XM ran out & 2nd XM receiver discount

Hi All,

I posted this in the radio and sound forum, but I thought I'd try this forum as well as the other forums seem to be less lively.

My trial XM subscription ran out and I've heard they will give you a deal if you wait a bit and are hesitant about renewing it.

Is this true? If so, what kind of deal should I expect?

Also, I'm considering a 2nd receiver for the wife's truck. Any idea what the cost would be of a 2nd receiver on the same account (i.e. any discount)?

Thanks,

Chris

Call them and see if they have any GM specials. When I bought my 04 you could get a whole year for $50. I havent heard if they do that anymore. The second radio is $6.95/mo.

They say if I renew I can get a 2nd radio, the Delphi XT, with the car kit shipped to my door for $0 and the second radio is an extra $6.99/month.

No discount on the base subscription.

That is a pretty helpful link. From what I gather, to activate any additional unit will cost $6.95. The only thing that might be misleading is that you don't necessarily need a separate radio for you vehicle and home. I've got the SkyFi2 unit, that I can just pop out when I leave my vehicle and plug it into a home unit at my house or work. I've seen nothing to indicate that XM will give you a price break if wait to subscribe. To listen in 2 different places at the same time, you need 2 units and an additional subscription for the $6.95.

You can get some XM Holiday specials here www.myradiostore.com

Thats true....but it isn't much of a deal. I let my 3 month subscription run out jsut because I didn't use it that much so I got a card from XM saying I could get it for 4.95 a month.......but only for 3 months. If you use it, it is worth it, if not its a waste of money.

Funny, I just recieved another postcard today. One year for 77$ and they will waive the reactivation fee (14.99)....almost becoming tempting.

Sirius has much better programming. XM is ok for free, but when I had to pay, I switched to Sirius. Hey, you can't lose, you get howard stern

I've got to agree that the music channels leave a lot to be desired with xm, but hey, that's what ipods are for. As far as talk / comedy, I'd give the edge to xm. If you like Stern, give Opie and Anthony a try(xm202). They kinda remind me of Howard 10-15 years ago before he stopped being funny. With either service, it pays for itself on every road trip. I thought of getting Sirius for NFL and NASCAR, but I’m usually glued to the tube for those anyway. (sorry for the rant)

Opie and Anthony used to be on a local Massachucetts stations, WAAF 107.3 more then 10 years ago. They used to pull some hysterical s**t then. I can't imagine what they're like completely uncensored. If I get XM again, I'll have to tune in.

    • Brought my 2015 Colorado into the dealership to check my touch screen issues, had that ghost touch thing happening. They said I needed a new touch screen and they could either order me one for $500. The lady at the service deck was nice enough to tell me I could order a touch screen online for less, she did stipulate that the touch screen had to be factory OEM, you can't pair an aftermarket screen to my radio seeing it was 2015, it had to be a GM factory OEM only. I found a few on Amazon and Ebay by the numbers on the back of the old screen, DJ080PA-01A GM# 22740886, Some said "OEM" in the description and others just said "Replacement". Would a replacement be the same as a OEM as long as it had the same numbers on the back of the screen? In some of the descriptions they also show different brand names but same numbers, is that an issue?
    • I have both but typically use the 4 legged walker (wheels on front, ski's on back).   The four wheeler is starting to be used on "longer" outdoor walks.  The 4 legged walker is particularly helpful in practicing good walking posture.  Both of my knees are at different stages of recovery and I'm trying to not develop poor habits.  I can actually manage with a cane but it's very difficult not to favor one leg over the other.  My PT recommends I continue with my 4 legged walker for a while.  Yesterday was four weeks since my last knee replacement and I'm excited about my progress to date.  It has been a hell of a rough journey so far but it is exciting to witness  systematic and continuous improvement.  I went for years watching the decline of my "mobility".  It seems that everyday now I am alerting my wife to something I can do now that I couldn't a day or two ago!  I encourage anyone facing the prospect of knee replacement to share any concerns with others who have had the surgery.  It isn't an instant fix but rather is a considerable amount of short term pain for long term gain.  Recovery time and pain levels vary for individuals post surgery but the end results are typically very positive and I've never encountered anyone regretting having had the surgery.
    • The lifter issue can be dealt with by shorter oil changes and quality oil IMO.
    • Got heavy rain, hail and light rain yesterday.
    • I'm putting in an A-pillar pod/gauges, and I'm asking if anybody can identify a (preferably) fuse for a switched power and illumination circuit on the driver's side interior fuse panel. Offhand, everything I checked with a test light was constant-hot, and I'd much rather uses a piggyback fuse. I can certainly find a wire, but I'd rather not half-tap.   Thanks in advance for any help.
