Bridgestone Duelers in Snow

Truck has about 10000 miles on it...first year in the snow...are they decent? I have a 2006 GMC Sierra RC/RB 4x4 5.3...or do I need snows or something better for snow...live in Maine.

I have the same tire and this will also be my first season in snow. The traction in mud I found to be impressive, but don't know if that's an indicator for snow.

I just plan to see how they do.

The regular ones, or the Revos?

That would be my first question also. If the stock Bridgestones (like I have), then a set of ice skates will give you better braking. In fact running on the rims would be about the same.

As to snow, they are even worse.

In case you haven't guessed, I am not impressed by the Bridgestones that my truck came with.

I can't figure out why GM would put such a junk tire on their trucks, the only tires worse than these are the Bridgestones they were putting on their 2500 series truck. So many quality tires out there and they put on the worst ones you could possibly get.

We just got dumped on last Friday here in Chicago with snow....about 9" or so where I am at and the truck handled great. No problems with traction or stopping. I have an '06 Silverado Z-71. So far I have nothing bad to say about the tires in the snow or rain.

My 2006 Z71 came stock with the Bridgestone AT Duelers. This is good to hear. Sounds like they're not all that bad in the snow.

When these wear out I will probably then go with the Revo's.

There are several different tires in the "Dueler" line, might be a good idea to specify which one you are using. I had the Dueler A/T and they were OK. They were different than what I see coming off the dealer lots too. Not sure which ones those are. Then there are the "Revo's"... and the "H/?'s"

There are two versions of the Duelers A/T that are offered for the truck. In 2005, I opted for the "optional" version - they actually look the same, except the tire is larger in diameter and sits higher, but if you check out Tirerack.com, they show one slightly higher in cost than the other. The reviews also show the optional Dueler tire is better than stock.

Those are the ones that came stock on my 06...I guess I'll have to try them before going out to buy new tires...I hope I don't have to this winter...
