Guest chevydeerhunter Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Is it me or does Bryant Gumbel sound really out of place in the broadcast booth? His voice annoys me, he's screwed up several times and when he reads stats, it sounds like he reads stats whereas any other seasoned broadcaster makes it sound like he's pulling them off the top of his head.
Snow Shovel Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Agreed. He is as annoying as the clap. NFL needs to replace him if they expect the NFL network to take off.
Guest chevydeerhunter Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Why in the h-e-double hockey sticks would they put a news journalist in the broadcast booth? Would anyone think to put Harry Caray on the evening news? On second thought, that would probably be a huge improvement!
kssooner Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 I agree he is terrible. Collinsworth isn't bad but there could be an improvement there also. I think I heard the other day that GUmble hasn't done play-by-play in over 20 years or something like that.
Rookie Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 I think they should get rid of them and hire Dennis Miller and Rush L.
samsauce29 Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 I think they should get rid of them and hire Dennis Miller and Rush L. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't know about Dennis Miller and Rush... but there HAS to be better... there were so many mistakes... but the one I remember is they had just put up a stat on Willie Parker... 31 carries for x yards... then they hand the ball to him again... Bryant says "Willie Parker with his 31st carry of the night"... Even if he would just PAY ATTENTION !!!
99silveradoz71 Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Yeah, add insult to injury. Being from Cleveland and watching the Browns' bumbling was bad enough, but then his commentary...I even asked someone, I thought his brother was the sports guy and he was the newsman.
Wingnut Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 I didn't know he was commentating now. But I can't stand him on his HBO show, so it's not surprising that he sucks at live stuff too.
SilveradoLAX7 Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Agreed, they leave lot to be desired. I actually think the Monday night crew is even worse. -Jay

kssooner Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Monday night crew does suck. Tony Kornheiser is horrible. Why do the Monday night executives insist on putting someone up there to add a little "humor" Just let the play by play and color guy go and do their work. You can tell Thiesman and(cant think of the other guys name) can't stand Kornheiser.

These guys seem like they hang out together and really like each other. Theisman's the one who makes me laugh and he's supposed to be the pro. Kornheiser's just sad.
SilveradoLAX7 Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I don't mind Tirico as much as the other two. Kornheiser admited all the time on PTI that he knows nothing about football (and it shows), and Theisman has to remind everyone each play that he was a former NFL QB... "When I was player those were the hardest reads...I was a Quarterback, I can tell you what it feels to get hit like that". I like alot of the guys that do college games better, as they just do their job without the ego and B.S. getting in the way. my 2 cents --Jay

Whenever Reggie White died, there was the controversy over whether it was right for the Packers organization to fly the American flag at half staff. Theisman went on a tear during the Dan Patrick show about how it wasn't a big deal and people were getting their panties in a twist. When DP read him the regulations about the flag flying at half staff, he quited down a bit but insisted it wasn't a big deal. He's a jerk.
