Hazed up DRL lenses and reflectors

I went to replace a burned out DRL in my '04 Silverado and noticed the lens and reflector is all hazed up. I thought it was just dirt on the outside since I haven't washed the truck in a couple of weeks. There's a film all over that area. It wipes off, but I can't get my finger and a rag in there to get the whole area.

Anyone else have this problem, if so, how did you go about cleaning it out?

Did you have any charring around the socket area? I seem to have some of that around mine.

This haze may be from the bulb cracking, I have seen it happen in work lights when they are dropped and the light bulb cracks. I think the haze is actually tungston vapor that has escaped the bulb and condensed on the inside of the housing. If you take the housing off the truck you can probably wash the inside by filling it with soapy water and a few cotton balls and shaking the mix around so that the cotton balls gently wash the reflactor and the inside of the lense clean. Make sure you rinse well so that you do not end up with soap residue in the light housing.

There's no charring at the socket, and the bulb was not cracked as the light that was still working is fogged / hazed up. I found a decanter cleaner at a bar supply, but it's too thick to fit in the bulb socket hole. d**n, my manley big fingers!

don't beleive it is from the burnt bulb.  I have the same thing on my 03 and have never HAD a bulb burn out yet.

I agree, I've had a burnt out bulb, but I have the same haze. Don't know what its from, but its not the first vehicle I've owned that this happened on.

Mine are hazed too.....and on the original bulbs.

My Buick Century has the same kind of hazing on the headlights as well, and so did my wife's GrandAm had the same issue (well...before my daughter smacked up the front end so now it has new lights)

I have the same problem. I think it's the heat from the bulbs causing some kind of reaction with the plastic. It does wipe off if you can reach it. I'm thinking of trying a soak with a mild vinegar or soap solution to see if it clears it up.
