German Castrol in the Southeast?

I noticed one of the local parts stores carries the German made Syntec 0W-30. I hear it's just as thick as 10 weight in some brands. Any of you in the Southeast run it? I've got an '01 5.3L coming up on 110k miles and am considering making the switch to synthetics. Since the GC carries with it a favorable reputation, I thought I'd check to see if it was too thin for this region or not.

I use it in my 03 Hoe and I'm waiting on the Blackstone results for my 97. That stuff is IMO the best I have used yet.
