Newbie with his first 1500

Hey guys, I just bought my first truck! woohoo! :banghead:

It's a 2000 LS Extended Cab in my favorite color - blue. 2 wheel drive. Anyway, I bought it from a dealer and was just wondering what I should do first to get to know my truck. What I mean, is I'm assuming I should take it in and have it looked over just to get to know what my truck needs, if anything. What would you guys suggest for this newbie with his new truck? Should I take it to a dealership, or should I take it to a reputable mechanic that I can trust in the Seattle area? I've already bought a few accessories, but am wondering about the more serious stuff. I was also thinking of buying an extended warranty through WarrantyDirect since the truck has just over 100k miles on it - with the warranty ending just 800 miles ago. For those of you that have owned a Silverado before, should I be concerned with 100k on the truck, or this thing just getting started?

Let me know guys.

If there isn't a maintenance history available, you might want to start changing the fluids (oil, coolant, tranny fluid, etc) and filters. Pull a spark plug and see how it looks. Other than that, just take care of it and enjoy your new truck. If you are mechanically enclined, maybe pull the wheels and check the brakes for wear.
