Grease zerks

i wanna know where i need to lube on my chassis and it doesnt tell in my owners manual , can anyone tell me where to look or even better does any have a diagram that they could post , thanks

both upper and lower ball joints

both inner and out tie rods

1 on the pitman arm and 2 on the idler arm

(the 2nd one is at the very top by the transmission cooler lines)

aftermarket u-joints may also have grease fittings.

can anyone help with the new 07 silverado. I only have two> Tie rod ends?

Just do not pump too much grease in there. When you see the boots swelling up, stop.

 

BTW, what are recommended grease intervals on these vehciles? i only have 5100 miles on my '06 Z71, so I do not worry about greasing anything yet.

grease it every oil change

and btw if you've never looked at the boots on a new truck they

don't have alot of grease in them

and yes the new trucks have a rack & pinion steering and the ball joints are not

greasable so just 2

You said that when I grease to stop when it swells. I'm used to greasing tractors where you pump until grease starts pushing out the cracks. Granted those are metal - metal fits that you won't swee swell. What would happen if I over grease?

The boot will expand too much from over greasing and can cause dirt and water to enter inside.

I have an 07 2wd Classic. Where do i grease it, and what kind of grease,and how often?

My 06 Yukon XL has 7 fittings I have found. The guy at the dealer said there were 2

You should see how many grease fittings my Army deuce and a half has. There is about 30 of them!

 

Besides the usual ones, there are grease fittings for the front leaf springs mounts, steering shaft, drive shaft slip yokes, U-joints, air/hydraulic brake cylinder linkage, etc.

 

Now that I know about the slip yoke, intermediate steering shaft, and creaking rear spring issues on GM trucks, having grease fittings on these seems like a good idea. How come they knew about this back in 1950's when they started making M35 Army truck series, and GM does not seem to know about it today? I know, it all comes down to cost.

Does anyone know where ther zerk is for the lower ball joint on a 96 silverado half ton? I can find all them except that one, I'm thinking there isn't one.
