Noise coming from underneath.

My 2000 GMC Sierra drives perfect, like it always has, but, there is a clanking sound (sounds like a I am dragging a soda can) and a rubbing (More like a major creak) sound when the truck is in motion.

Most of my friends says it's a U joint, but, I am far from a mechanic and wanted to see what everyone here thought of it. Any info would be appreciated.

U-Joints are your best bet.

Is this a 4x4, when it is engaged or not, I am having a similar problem and trying to find a resonnable solution. But mine is only in 4x4 mode and having resistance.

Sorry, I should have said, no, this is not a 4 wheel drive.
