CB Radio, Help!!?

Hi guys, I've already PM'd a few members about this, so heres what I need to do......how can I hook my CB radio up to a power source in my 2000 GMC Sierra? All I know is that it has a red and black wire and it says 13.8v on the radio. Where can I connect the red and black wires? Any help would be appreciated because as you can see, I'm truly mechanically impaired!!!! Thanks!

easy to do... first decide if you want the power to be controlled with the key. If so in you fuse panel find a fuse that will be hot with the key on. if you want the CB hot all the time just test for a fuse thats hot with the key off. the have electrical connectors that crimp onto the wire and then you take a fuse out, put the connector around the fuse and then put the fuse back in. then for the ground just find a screw or something into the firewall or support bar under the dash and attach your ground wire to it. should be good to go

Make sure you are connected to the fused side of the fuse or you could end up with a big problem if your wiring ever gets shorted out.

With the fuse removed, one side of the fuse holding contacts will stay hot, and the other side will go to 0 volts. You need to be connected to the 0 volt side (which will go to 12 volts when you replace the fuse, duh!).

Ok, here's what I did....I opened my fuse box and took the red wire and pushed it into this little metal thing where a fuse is supposed to go. Then I wrapped the black wire around a screw and it works!!!! I'm not sure if this is right or not but its working now. Thanks alot!

the only potential problem i see here is it sounds like your not fused at all... does your wire runing to your CB have an inline fuse? also if i read your post right it sounds like you just put the wire into an empty fuse spot (no fuse) is this correct?

Yes, thats exactly what I did. I put the metal part of the red wire into an empty fuse spot. AND now my front right turn signal doesn't work!! LOL, oops. When I put the turn signal to turn right, it blinks very fast and the front doesn't even blink at all. I need help very badly.

Kinda sounds like ya might just have a bad turnsignal bulb.

I'd think none of the turnsignals would work if ya blew a fuse.

Ahhhh, ok. I was kinda worried there....It probably doesn't help that the right front turn signal plastic case was filled with water either, LOL. Do you think putting the red wire into an empty fuse spot is ok? I just shoved the wire into this little empty fuse spot and it worked so I guess its fine. Thanks again for your guys' help!

Like it was said, as long as the power wire going to the CB has a fuse in it, ya should be A.O.K.

And yeah, the water filled light probably doesn't help. When ya get the bulb out, it'd be a good idea to add some dielectric grease in the socket. Auto part stores should have it.
