Here was my long and hellasious journey to get my Truck

It all started months ago when my husband bought an 02 SS camero, After I told him it wasn't a good idea but if that was what he really wanted fine. Less that a month later the engine was nocking  We found out later GM had been producing an engine that they knew was falty and there is even a class action lawsuite in CA. about it. So my husband takes it into his shop and they take out the engine to figure out the problem and while they did that he was frame damage from a hard hit accident, but it was difficult to tell becasue they had done a good job fixing it. (I repeat I told him not to buy it) so after 2 months batteling GM on the phone they finally agreed to pay to put an engine in. Because we couldn't afford to be down a car my husband went and got an 04 GTO....... again another bad idea but what the heck do i Know. So now we need to get rid of the Camero. so my husband decided to trade it in along with my tahoe on a new Truck because the 06 rebates would even out him being upside down on his camero.

Now we go to dealership #1 that my husband had check out the day before and saw a truck he knew I would love. When we got there the sales guy was such and jerk I said I like the truck but not enough to give him a nice christmas bonus. so we leave and go to Dealership #2 We get there about 4pm and I don't see anything I really like then we find one I am willing to settle for (not many 06's left anywhere) so they jerk my husband around for 4 hours never talking prices (I was busy with the kids changing dipers, thanking my oldest to the potty and keeping them entertained) So my husband comes back to the little play area we were at and says they want our trade in's and they will do a lease  I tell him no way am I giving up my fully paid for Tahoe for a 1 year lease. he spends 5 minutes argueing with me  pretty much telling me I am an idoit and it is a good deal with out actually calling me an idiot. so then he says lets just go talk to them.

Ok so the sales manager starts talking leasing, and I tell him absolutely no way will I consider leasing........ My husband decides to induldge him and he tells us it is a 1 year lease at $900 a month  I think my eyes were going to pop out of my head. that is almost my morgage payment on over $200,000. Then the jerk says we don't have the credit to by :bs: (it is harder to get a lease than to by)I am so ready to walk. then my husband and him start problemsolving and my husband realizes they aren't even comming close to what we want on our trade-ins. now we are both ready to walk but then my husband gets this bright idea to go look for a cheaper truck...... :sigh: so we find one $4,000 less that wasn't on the lot before, go inside and start hammering out things with the finance guy who says that it will be a $700 lease  I say I told them I absolutely don't want to lease. they start with the B.S. and I start saying we are leaving give me my keys I have had enough (at this point it is 8pm and my kids havn't eaten anything but popcorn and soda) It took me 20 minutes to actually get my keys but before that I am standing at the front door waiting to get my keys and they send some big guy to stand between us and the door to start haggling with us. ( I guess they thought i would be intemidated and back down)I looked at him and say I don't want to haggle anymore just give me my keys.... He claims to be the GM and just wanted to come over and introduce himself and say hello (which was completely insulting I am not that stupid) I tell him again I want to leave and to give me my keys. He then yells across the dealership like the big man he is and says give this women her keys and get her the hell out of my dealership. It took everything in my husband not to clock the guy. So finally I get my keys and we leave.

2 Days later we get a call back from this dealership and when my husband answers he tells me it is the dealership, and I completely come unglued. I am sure my whole neighborhood heard me say I can believe they have the balls to call my house. :smash: My husband acutally had to go out in the garage to keep me from getting so angry about it again. ( I don't normally get this mad but they had me ticked)

On the phone was the real GM of that dealership calling to appoligize and wanted to see what he could do for us and asked to speak with me to appoligize to me personally and my husband told him I don't think that is a good idea but if you can get what we need for the price we want then I will work on her........ I guess they spent 2 days looking for another left over 06 and finally the GM pulled alot of strings and ended up getting the Truck I really liked at the 1st dealership and ended up bending over backwards to make the deal happen. He gave us top doller on our trade-ins and every rebate available to us. We ended up walking out of there with a truck over $10,000 under MSRP. I can't say I will go back to that dealership but we ended up getting a great truck at a great price because of it.

Way to bring this thread downhill, Seasons.

The Dealership we bought my current car from liked to have given us a headache too. But it didn't get quite as rough as your experience though, Sierramama.

You gotta be almost ready for a fight when you walk into most Dealerships. They can be rough on you if you don't know what you're doing.

I don't know what it is with dealerships. It's a wonder you don't hear about car slaesmen getting maimed or killed by disgruntled shoppers in the news.

I nearly threw my salesman out of the window when i was getting my truck. he was being a real ass since i was only 19 but i picked him up by hisshirt after he looked me in the face and lied to me about my credit when the sheet was sitting on his desk. He calmed down after that.

If I have to buy a new vehicle, I'm seriously considering on just doin the internet thing.

The Chevy dealer on the east side of Tucson, was a rotten experience buying from and the service dept treats ya like scum.

First week to have the fog lights enabled on the BCM. I had a service dept appointment and was 1 hour early...'did you buy the truck here?...yes...You know you need an appointment?...yes I have one...Oh I see it here...Well we are much too busy to do this, just drop it off monday and we might be able to get to it...so 5 minutes with a Tech2 and with an appointment is too much to ask...You don't need to have an attitude with me...may I speak with the Service manager?....(SMgr) As the service writer told you we are much too busy to accomodate you today, come back monday and drop it off and we might be able to get to it.

Within an hour drove the truck over to west Tucson Chevy dealer, no problem that you don't have an appointment, it's only a 5 minute job, does $30 sound okay?...yes...a tech came to the service drive punched up the TECH2...after paying all told I was out in less that 20 minutes. Went to them ever since.

Come 1st week of Dec 2006, my job has been now on the east side of town. I needed the steering shaft lube thing done, my third-party extended warranty (they've been ok, but I'll just buy a GM Major guard next time) covered the "repairs" and since it was the dealer where I had purchased the warranty through, there was $0 deductable. I figure it's been 4 years later, the east side dealer is just down the street from where the office is, I could be flexible and leave the truck all day. Make an appointment 1 week in advance for 0700. Get there the day of the appointment at 0630 (first one in line). 0700 comes around...Do you have an appointment?...yes for 0700...What needs to be done?...as I had mention when I made the appointment there's a steering clunk that has returned after 15K miles...Sounds like we'll have to tear the steering rack and pinion apart to see what's wrong....okay if you must, I have an extended warranty that covers all that...Oh that's a two day job and we are much too busy to get to it, could you just stop by monday and see if we have time? (it's Wednesday)

I fight with rush hour(s) traffic to get to the west side dealer. What's wrong with the truck?...i have a steering cluck...Oh the shaft lube deal, Do you have an appointment...sorry no...Well right now I have 10 bays/techs closed to handle just the back log we have, if you can leave it for the day I could possibly get to it...ok, could you call the rental place, i have to get back over to the east side in an hour as i won't be able to wait for the shuttle...Sure, I'll comp you for the rental from the $50 deductable required by the extended warranty since the warranty was purchased at the other dealer....

As usual, within a week of the service date my trusty service writer from the west side Chevy dealer has sent me a card, thank you for letting us service your vehicle.

I see in this thread reasons number 345, 981, 14, and 589 on why you should GET YOUR FINANCING ELSEWHERE.

Go to your bank and get your loan. You make take a 1/2 point hit on the interest (I never have, but it's pretty normal)...But you can potentially save money at the dealer because they have no freakin' clue what you can afford. Don't tell them how much you make. Don't tell them how much debt you carry. Don't tell them your credit history.

Work out a final price. The payment numbers are incredibly simple to figure out...They intentionally make it complicated so they can pad the numbers. It's a financial slight of hand and it sends me out the front door every time.

I tell them "we're going to work on the price. That's it. You bring financing into it one time...And I'm gone. No second chances. I know what I can afford MUCH better than you know what I can afford. Now, let's talk price, not payments".

And I always get good deals, and they always make a couple of bucks.
