2000 Chevy 2500 7.4L 5 speed clutch problems

Howdy all!

 

I'm new to the forum. I bought this truck used with 75,000 miles on it and have put 30,000 more with absolutely no problems whatsoever, until now.

 

I don't use this truck daily, more like a few times a week. About a month ago, I noticed the clutch pedal had more than usual amount of free play and was nut fully disengaging clutch. I finally got to looking into it this weekend. It was a little down on fluid in the master cylinder. So, I topped it off and proceeded to try to bleed the clutch. I know how to bleed these things, but I cannot get this thing to build up any pressure whatsoever! I've tried to bleed by gravity, by pumping, by single strokes with no luck. So, I'm guessing I need a new master and/or slave cylinder at this point. However, I still have a few questions:

 

1) How does the line come off the master cylinder? Looks like it's held on with a roll pin? Wierd.

 

2) How does the line come off the slave cylinder? It's a new styled spring loaded thingy of some sort. Is there a special tool?

 

3) Can I remove the slave cylinder without pulling the transmission? I already removed the front drive shaft so i had some room to work, but, it's still very hard to see back in there toward the slave cylinder.

 

Any help, especially a step by step for master, line and slave replacement would be great!
