HELP...The Generals letting me down

What's going on? The General's screwing me out of my next truck. Ford is the only truck "between Ford, Dodge, and Chevy" that's offering a 1500 Crew Cab with a full 6.5' Bed!

I've had my extended cab for six years now and since the family grew, thought a crew would be nice. I have no reason to have a 3/4 ton with a 6.0 where my 5.3 pulls anything I need to pull. I use the 6.5 bed for sleeping in "topper" when on my dirt bike trips so a 5 ft bed just won't cut it.

Does anyone out there have some insight on the Generals plans for the NEAR future of our trucks???

Avalanche and an avalanche topper or avalanche tent. I had an avalanche before buying my silverado. I camped in the tent several times and it was quite nice.

I kinda feel the same way. I'm going to miss the 6.5 foot bed on my 1500HD CC when my new 1500 CC comes in. I kinda wish GM was still making something like the 1500HD.

Ford's got a crew with a 6.5 bed, Dodge has the 6.25 bed, Where's the love GM?? I use a topper on mine "built in tent" and like it much better when it's raining outside and my friends are sleeping on the ground in their tent's while I'm nice and dry in mine. I would think they may have trouble has with the half tons they must be tooled up for a only two frame lengths. The 2500's use a 8' standard cab, 6.5' extended cab and a 6.5 Crew. I wonder if they could just add a bit for the 1/2? I know they have a 1500HD with all I want but a 12mpg engine. I think the future holds much better power plants in the 1/2 ton trucks but I still think we are at least a year away. 1/2 Ton diesel might be a good platform to build off of say about 250 hp and 425-450 in the torque dept.

Wouldn't a crew with a standard bed be the same frame as an extended with a long bed?

I would guess so, but they don't offer a extended 8' bed on a half ton...at least not that I'm aware of. They used to before 2000 with the c/k truck but I have never seen it in a Silverado.

Just checked some numbers, it is not the same dimensions. I used a 1500HD CC w/Std. bed to compare.

Looks like you'd better find a 2006 1500HD while you can. Too bad you have to take the 6.0 engine though.

Didn't the earlier 1500HD's come available with the 5.3 as the base engine?

On the GMC website you can still build the 1500HD, I just did it

Unfortunately that is only for the GMT-800s. As of now, there's no 1500HD on the GMT-900s. Also, the final order date for the 1500HDs was Oct. 27, '06 and the final build out date is Feb. 9, '07, from what I've seen.
