Need to replace Steering Gearbox 03 silverado 4.8

I have an 03 Silverado 1500, V8 4.8 (Vin V). I have an 8 inch, Full Throttle Suspension Lift (i bought it this way from the original owner).

I have a friend of the family who is a mechanic (not mainstream), and has lots of experience with Chevy. However, mine is a bit newer, and we wanted to take some initial steps towards research and planning.

I recently purchased this part (pending delivery)

A1 Cardone - Steering Gear Box

Looking at my current steering box, my friend was telling me the main issue in getting this task done, was that the Pitman Arm might be an issue getting off. I was wondering if there were any specialty tools that I need to be aware of that might help the efficiency of completing such a task. Someone told me, there is some kind of gear puller, to help remove the pitman arm in getting to the steering box off.

There sure is. Its called a pitman arm puller. I had to use one when I replaced the steering box on my dads lincoln. I dont think I could have gotten the pitman arm off without it. When you do this make sure your wheels are straight ahead and the wheel is locked.
