Never starts on first try

My truck is now six years old, has 50k miles, and never starts on the first turn of the key. It did when it was new and for about two years. There after it took two tries to start the truck. Recently it was taking three cranks so I decided to get a knew battery. The battery helped but the truck still doesn't want to start on the first crank. What can I do to get it to fire right up ?

change the........i dont now what you call it

it is the thing that make the car starts

not the one you but the key in it

you can see it under the car in the right sid of the engine

Take it to autozone or advance auto parts and get the computer scanned, I'm pretty sure its free. If it cranks fine the starter should be good, so it might be a fuel problem.

Could be an ignition problem too. Id check all the fuel lines/pump, and also all the ignition components. Before you start it for the first time one day, pop off a spark plug cap and have someone else crank it over to see if your getting sparks on the first attempt to start. Im pretty sure you gotta stick a screw driver tip inside the cap so it sparks, Ive only seen this a few times, maybe someone else can chime in. **I'm not liable for any bodily damage** :shakehead:

Definitely check your fuel pressure. It is even harder to start when it is cold outside?

I had similar issues before I changed my fuel pump.

It's called a 'starter' bro. :shakehead:

The starter still seems to be working well enough. The truck starts up consistently on the second turn of the key. I was just hoping the new battery would get it to start right up on the first try.
