Folding covers and bed rail caps question

Does anyone know which folding covers work with bed rail caps on an '04 Sierra Extended Cab ? I'm looking for a folding cover but would like to keep bed rail caps if possible. Brands I'm looking at are GM/Fold-A-Cover, Access, Peragon, etc. Thanks ...

I have the low pro. which allows me to keep my bed rails.

I can roll it right up against the back window. The ribs and rear crossover are integrated into the

cover so there are no loose pieces to play with. The weather doesn't both it at all I live up in Ontario Canada, north of Michigan. They come with a life time warranty.

Truxedo Lo Pro is one of the models I am serioulsy considering.

I'm also seriously considering GM/Fold-A-Cover though more expensive. I plan on asking the dealer to match a price of $663 I found on the 'net if I decide to go this route.They do have an improved model that will be hitting the streets any day now according to a call I recently placed with them. Some inprovements I seem to recall are the elimination of the lock rods in favor of another locking method, textured rails, more latches to hold non-locking panels, etc ... Seems worth holding off for if I decide to go Fold-A-Cover.

Despite which way I go I'd like to keep the bed rail caps.

does it have to be a folding or could it be a tonneau cover? I have the Extang Full tilt roll up, snapless...

This cover is awesome becasue it gives you the best of both worlds..

- Quick access to the bed via the 2 hydraulic lifts

- If you need to put larger items in it rolls back like a snap cover except there are no snaps.. it has almost like a ziplock design track. This makes it real quick seal and unseal, water tight, and no snaps to break!

- And if you have something so big that everything has to come off, all you do is snap the hydraulic pumps out and tilt the cover upand pull out. Takes about 15 seconds!

I paid around $320 for it.. you can get it even cheaper now!!

I also have Truxedo... Not only that I kept my truck bed rail cap, it also made my truck look more great plus a life time warranty... So I don't have to worry if I accidentally damage it... I forgot though where my brother purchased... Because it was given to me as a gift on my birthday last year...

Here is my .02

In 1999 I purchased an Access brand tonneau cover for my 2000 GMC. After 7-1/2 years it still looks like brand new today and is just as tight as new and the Velcro sides still work like new. I sold this truck to my brother and when I ordered my 2007, I DEMANDED an Access brand cover from the dealer. He told me the GM version is made by Access, I said nope, I want the actual Access brand. I will NEVER consider anything else. That is one awesome cover. I treated the vinyl twice a year. A friend of mine has an F150 with a Truxedo and he says mine is much tighter and better fitting than his was brand new and mine's almost 8 yrs old. He said his next truck will have the Access brand. I paid $400, installed. Oh, and the same can be said for Line-X spray-in liners....awesome!!!!

This looks pretty cool, just wondering why you'd ever need to remove it though since it rolls up. Also, don't care for the bowed supports, not as "clean" looking as a flat surface. I like the idea of it pivoting up as an option though, that's a great idea.

I still think I should design one like this that lifts straight up too so you can keep your taller cargo covered. Kind of like a pop-up camper style tonneau cover. Or a "Collapsible Topper". Go ahead, steal my idea and run with, I'll never do it anyway.

The reason you have to remove it is becasue the frame for the roll up cover is bolted together.. so if what your trying to get in dosent fit inside the bed, then the frame wont sit flush with truck... You can still fit a lot in there tho... i just had to bring home a washer and dryer, and they jsut fit under the rails in side and i closed the outside rails around it leaving the cover rolled open.

stay away from the snap ones. They "bleed" when it rains, and leaves streaks down the sides of your bed. NOT NICE!!!!!!!!!!

Fold-a-cover works with the bedrail caps. I had them on my 04 Silverado. The only issue I ran into was the I bought the caps through the dealership, but received an aftermarket (non-GM) brand cap. I don't recall the brand offhand, but it had a textured surface to it, which affected the seal of the Fold-a-Cover side rails. I used black silicone along the edge of the rails where they contacted the plastic covers to fix the issue. I highly recommend this cover. I have an Avalanche now, and one of the things I miss is the ease of use of that Fold-A-Cover. Too bad there's not a way to have the same setup on these trucks (wouldn't trade back though, for other reasons!).

Does the fold-a-cover (or any other hard folding cover) work with caps and rails? The rails on my pickup mount in the stake pockets, so most of the covers look like they won't work. The only one that look like it should work and actually has pictures to prove it is the peragon, but I have read bad things about them. Any suggestions are welcome.

The FAC works just fine with the GM bed rail caps and as I recall the instructions had a templte for where to drill through the plastic, snap-in stake pocket covers. Installation was a breeze and seals just fine.

Would you mind posting some pictures of your setup? All the pictures make it look like the FAC covers the stake pockets, but the pictures are from a distance. Here's a picture of the same type of rails that I have:
