Hugheser Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Hello. I've been lurking here for quite awhile but this is my first post. I've tried searching but I haven't had much luck. I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 4WD with some power problems. First here's the background. A couple weeks ago, after a bad ice storm, I managed to break my door handle trying to get into my truck. Not a big deal. I went online and had a new one shipped to me. I had the day off yesterday so I decided to install the new handle. That seems to go fine. The new handle works as expected. I then also replaced the stock fog light's bulbs since they were burnt out. I pulled a bulb for the driving lights but can't find a replacement locally. Lastly I decided to take advantage of the nice day and wash my truck. Again, no problems at any point. Well this morning I went to start my truck and nothing happened. It's as if the battery was dead. I checked it and it's just under 14V like it should be. The cabling on the battery all looks fine. I got in my truck again and the stock security light started flashing like normal but once I hit the brake, there was a click and it stopped. It also killed the dinging from having the door open. I continued to try and start it and had several different outcomes. Sometimes it would start to click. Other times it would do nothing. After one time, it started clicking randomly for several minutes. Gaps between the clicks ranging from a split second to maybe 4 or 5. I've looked at the door panel again. The three connections that go to the lock/windows/mirrors are fine. I didn't bother checking the door light at the bottom corner but I don't see how that could be it. Is there anything I'm missing? It sounds like there may be a short somewhere but it all seems fine to me. Thanks in advance, Brian
Hugheser Posted February 23, 2007 Author Posted February 23, 2007 Well I spent the last hour going over every electrical connection I could find. Tightening, loosening, rinse and repeat. I don't know which did it but it seems to be working fine now.
