Autotrac malfunction

I just found this forum and already have a question. I have searched the Autotrac and the push button and have not found anyone with similar symtoms to mine. My 04 Silverado with the 5.3 has the Autotrac. When I turn the vehicle on it defaults to 4x4 Auto. Even if it was on 2H when I shut it down. On top of that it only will shift from 4x4 Auto to 2L 1 of every 10 tries and it will never shift into 4H or 4L. No noises no nothing, the lights just blink on the button that I push then is just stays at 4x4 Auto.

 

Does this sound like the push button module? I have already taken it to the dealer to inspect in the morning and it is under warrenty, just wondering what I am in for.

My first guess would be the pushbutton module mainly because that is the most common problem. However you generally get a service 4wd message when there is a malfunction.

 

The second guess would be an actuator or servo motor...

 

The best thing is that you are still under warranty!!! Good luck, and let us know what you find out!
