Antenna wire access.

I just picked up a clean '99 1500 Z71 today and would like to put my Sirius radio in it tomorrow. My problem is that the truck has the full console with a remote CD player and I can't see how in the world to access the antenna where it plugs into the back of the radio. I need to install the FM direct adapter seeing as how the built in transmitter is next to useless, so I was wondering if anybody has any tricks as how to do this? TIA!

Boy...This name thing is going to get confusing

 

Pull your radio out. You don't even need any tools to do it. Pull the trim ring off (be careful as it can break, and you may have to move your steering wheel up and down a bit during the job) and slide the radio out by pushing down on the little tabs on the sides. Easy access.

I just put XM in my truck I will try and help you I know that Sirius is a little different. I have a alpine aftermaket cd player. I am sure that you have aftermarket cd player as well?

if so what kind of Head Unit?

Don't laugh, but it's still the stock unit (for now). I'm waiting to see if the person who buys my BLazer is willing to pay for the system that's in it now. if not it will be put in the truck. The head unit is an old (as in 1989 old) Sony with a CD player that still kicks butt. Along with that will be three amps, ceramic tweaters, Boston Accustic 6x9's and a pair if 12" subs and an active crossover to control everything. The real fun will be trying to fit and hide everything into the truck if the new owner of the Blazer doesn't want to pay the extra $$ for the system.
