Wheel size

I recently purchased a 2007 Classic 1500 4x4. I see that it has 17" wheels on it will 16's fit on this truck or has something changed in the last few years that requires 17's? I tried the search feature and did not see what I needed. I was looking at 16's because that size seems to have a lot more wheel and tire options to pick from.

The only change was a move to drim brakes on the rear. As long as there is clearance on the drum 16" will work. Just remember to compensate the tire size aspect ratio to make up for the smaller rims.

I think the 1500s have a larger front disc brake to compensate for the drums in the rear. On my HD, the rims are barely clearing the caliper.

In 2005 they switched to a larger caliper. 17" is the minimum for proper clearance.
