Speedo Fix?

I just upgraded from 245s to 265s and have noticed about an 8% difference in my speedo. I'm sure the odometer is also reading incorrectly. I called the tire place that installed them and they don't have the equipment to change it and GM said that they wouldn't change it because of liability BS. Since neither of them would do it, how can I change this setting? Is there someplace I can have it done at?

A friend of mine has a Dodge with BullyDog installed and I remember him showing me a setting for tire size in it. I don't know if that's only a setting for peformance or not because I didn't ask him at the time. Can a tuner change the speedo for me for different tire sizes? I noticed on SuperChips site, the Flashpaq says it can do it but I would like to confirm with you guys before jumping to conclusions.

Yes alot of the handhelds will do it as so with a custom tune.

Mine was WAAAAAY off when i went from 265's to 315's. I set mine up with the superchips flashpaq but im planning on getting a custom pcm tune or a dyno tune instead, hopfully soon.

The dealer can do it for tires upt to 265's, but I wnet with 285's and I now have the Flashpaq and it took care of it for me.

I went to the Chevy dealership and they told me no. They went outside, wrote down the tire size, and then called about it and said that it wasn't approved. They said that they only have a certain list that they will change it for and my tires aren't on the list.

How do you like the bigger tires?

Absolutely love them. These fit the vehicle much better than the 245's. And with the 4.10 gears, I don't notice any difference in acceleration or towing. So worth the change.

Just think, you'll have less miles on your truck when you trade it in...lol

That's what I was thinking when the dealership told me they wouldn't change the speedo. I guess they like fixing stuff for free.

I'm thinking of going with the Superchips Flashpaq from Stripper Motorsports. I can get it $200 cheaper there. For a 2500HD 6.0L, would I need to get model #2815? Is it compatible with the HD's?

The 2815 is actually what I have for my 07 Classic 2500HD. It will work just fine. I have the 87 tune in mine and it made quite a difference. I went from 245's to 285's. When you measure for the tire height be sure to measure the actual height not the manufacturer's suggested site. I put a ruler on the top of my tires and measured from the ground up and put that measurement in the tuner.

That's bs that they wouldn't re-calibrate your speedo. I recently went from 245's to 265's and my dealer re-calibrated mine. They charged me $35 to do it though. At first the service writer told me it was not possible to change it on a HD. I told him that was bs in so many words...( I told him I've read of many people recalibrating their speedos). My mechanic set him straight and said they could do it.

the dealer should be able to do it- or any shop that has the tech 2 tool that they use. there are only certain tire sizes that are listed, but the dealer told me my 285's were close enough in size to something that was listed, so they still did it for me anyway. just find the right dealer and theyll do it- it cost me 50 bucks tho.

The chevy dealer can reflash your computer, if you know the right person, had my 285,s put on for winter and my friend at the dealer took 2 minutes to do it and there are numerous sizes in thier hand held. The only thing is if you have warranty issue and it has something to do with tires they say thay will not work on it until tires are changed to smaller size, thats a service bulletin that was posted at dealership. What was exact size of the 245 ?? And the exact size of the 265 ? ?

A 245/75/16 is only 0.5% OF A 265/70/16

IT ALL DEPENDS ON ASPECT RATIO DID YOU GO 70 SERIES TO 75 ? 75 TO 70 ? 70 TO 70 ? 75 TO 75 ??
