What Are The Problems For 2002 Year Gmc 2wd

I am looking at a 2WD GMC and was wondering if there were any problems for this year, and what to look for. I believe these have the steering shaft clunk. Thanks in advance as always!.

I have a 2002 chevy with no steering shaft clunk...its a 4x4 though, don't think that would make a difference. No piston slap either. If its like the chevy, its a good truck. The only problem I had was with the A/C compressor, and I'm pretty sure that a rock hit the sensor and broke it off, so really no problems.

Ive never had any steering shaft issues w/ my '02 GMC. So far w/ 108k on the clock I've replaced spar plugs and wires and the fuel pump. Thats it...I've only had it for the last 30k-40k though. I've been nothing but pleased. I even have my steering shaft turning 35"s w/ no clunk.

Even if you have the clunk, it's a fairly cheap and easy thing to fix.

Oh, and FYI...I ran a Carfax on it, it looks clean (according to them anyway).

Thanks for checking the carfax!! All I need now is a VIN breakdown showing build date, RPO codes, etc.

The main problem with the 02 2wd GMC's is, that they don't do well in the mud.

Now the 02 4wd don't seem to have as much of an issue with it. Not sure if it was a design flaw or what.

More of a logistics error on your part rather than a true design flaw on GM's.

My new 2wd would probably do okay in a little mud...But my AWD probably wouldn't :D
