am looking to possibly purchase a new truck. With the rising fuel costs, I am keeping my options open. What are the 2500HD Silverado's getting for MPG?

Here is some info on my diesel mpg with a GMC Sierra 2500HD (GMC's Silverado). Hope it helps.

 

1,126 miles on new body style 2007 GMC Sierra 2500HD, Duramax/Allision, CC, Long body...

 

First fill up, combinations two laner, highway & 4WD, 16.35 mpg hand calculated. Second fillup, highway, two lane & 4WD, but primarily highway and New England mountains/hills 15.38 mpg. Third fill up combination highway & local, but primarily highway & fewer mountains/hills 18.4 mpg. All mileage hand calculated. DIC on most recent fill up indicated 18.8 mpg. Pretty close... my guess is that the discrepancy is due primarily to inability to really top off accurately & consistently each time. DIC indicated 20 mpg purely highway. I believe that is probably pretty accurate. Sweet spot seems to be between 68 mph & 72 mph.

 

 

Although I am new to diesels, concerns about diesel particulate filter (dpf) in new LMMs appear to be overblown. This Duramax diesel 2500HD gets better fuel mileage than either of my two 1500 Suburbans.

I keep pretty good records and my Duramax is getting better mileage as it wears-in. Over the last few thousand miles, my results are honestly this: Freeway@65 a solid 20 to 20.5 mpg, around town (Portland, OR) I get 15 to 16 mpg and towing my 8,000 pound trailer for long distances, I average 13 mpg.

 

I'm absolutely delighted with the incredible power and the excellent fuel mileage.

My '06 has 23000 on it and I'm getting about 14.3 around town and I haven't had it on the freeway much yet so I cant give you a solid number there. I suspect it will get 18 on the highway.

i'm getting around 12-13 on mine, but it has a lot of mods.

2004 2wd CCSB 6.0L

12-14mpg on average. Doing about 50/50 City/Hwy driving. Staying between 60-75 on the hwy, and no red light racing.

I just made a run down to Texas and back and averaged about 10 mpg. 2007 2500HD 6.0 pulling aout 3000 lb. trailer. But I've only got 1030 miles on mine so far.

2007 2500HD (old body style) 6.0 auto gasser W/T regular cab 8' box.

 

Only have just shy of 1800 miles on it but finally checked it this morning.

 

Mixture of city/two lane highway (mostly highway) and it was 14.3 MPG

 

It's a 2 wheel drive. I'd be very happy if it gets over 15 highway once broke in.

We've only got to check about 1/2 a tank without the trailer and we got a little over 13 mpg. I'm hoping for 15 as well.

16.6 on my new Duramax. I figure I'm heading for 20 as she works in a bit and I get it on the Interstate. Right now, today, diesel is cheaper than regular by about ten cents--it's been fluctuating wildly these past few months.

My 2006 GMC 2500HD 4WD Duramax with 5500 miles gets right at 14.9 in town, about 18 on the highway with no load. This is driving very very easy, like egg under foot. Hopefully this will improve with some mileage.

I get around 13-15 in town and 18-20 on highway with 2002 CC 8' 4x4 with 6.0 gasser. But I knew when I got it that I was not looking for the mileage benefits, I was looking at a truck that I could do anything with.
