I have a tune from wait4me and it is definitely worth the money. Haven't done a cam since my truck is still under warrenty. A cold air intake and exhaust are some easy upgrades that are good for a few ponies, not as much bang for the buck as a tune, but still worth it to me.

should the intake/exahust be done before the tune, or it doesnt matter?

supercharge a bunch of extra oomph. dont know your budget tho.

Did look at the supercharger as well. Anybody on here try one on a 5.3L? What about the reliability, long term?

thanks.

Long term reliability and supercharger are not something someone thinks when putting a supercharger on. I'd just put a K&N sticker on and be done with it. Sticker=Hotrod.

I have the Wait4Me tune on my Avalanche and for the money it would be hard to beat.

Thanks,

I am going to try that first and see what i pick up. What did you notice right away? There is diff. setups you can order right?

We held a group tune at his site for the Avalanche club, had about 20 Avalanches that were tuned that day. I noticed improved shifts, quicker downshifts and just a better feel. Like on road trips I do not get as much shifting in and out of OD......gas mileage also improved about 2MPG!

I'd recomend a tune and maybe a few small mods intake/exhuast. Then yeah if you seriously want some more power a supercharger adds some serious ponies. Altough being there pretty expensive, if you have that cash might make more sense to upgrade to a 6.0 in a ss or vmax. Would be more realiable then a supercharged 5.3. Good luck...

a tune is the best bang for the buck. i had a wait4me tune before and it was ok. i am about to try wheatley down in Houston. I have heard good things about him so far so I am gonna order one this week.

It really doesn't matter. If they know you have an intake or exhaust system then I think they tune it a little different, but you can either tell them your going to put one on, or send the tune back when you do mod it later. A supercharger would be nice, but if your worried about reliability then I wouldn't do it. It would be killer on the tranny.

Save your money on intakes and exhausts as the small gains they offer are not felt until you are in the upper RPM range (check their HP claims and the RPM they occurr at) where you don't spend the majority of your time driving, although they will add a more aggressive sound to your truck - try to stay away from canned tunes that are based on paramters for vehicles similar to yours (waitforme, Superchips, Hypertech, etc.) and if possible opt for a dyno tune.
