I was getting the Silverado scanned today anyway to check on the O2 sensors for my poor gas mileage that I've been getting. Yesterday, these two codes come up and just reinforces the whole scanning thing today.

I get there today, and they say it is probably NOT the O2 sensors. My mechanic is saying that one sensor should be showing too lean and one sensor showing too rich. He also said it could be a hole in my exhaust. What all do you think? I went to my local dealer and they are going to look at the exhaust system tomorrow at 10:30.

If they tell me its the exhaust...what do I do? Right now, its a single in, dual out system but I took a look at prices for the cat-back system...$629 without labor. Thats incredibly expensive...so do I find a custom shop or just live with the problem? I'm in IL so there isn't any emissions testing.

Also, anyone have any opinions on whether its an exhaust problem or O2 sensors?

Thanks guys for your help!

If it's an exhaust leak like a crack or something just have them weld it, had to do it to mine on the down pipe drivers side manifold...$20. :D

Thats an idea...I'm also debating about going to a custom exhaust shop like the dealer recommended if its an exhaust issue. I personally want a meaner sound and keep my dual exhaust. We'll know tomorrow for sure whats going to happen!

Or you can use this as a perfect excuse to UPGRADE!! No perfect time to upgrade then when something isn't working right. :D

yea, definately going to have an upgrade if the exhaust is the problem. We'll know tomorrow! I'll post back to let you know what happens...

As an update, it was the intake manifold gasket. I also needed a front alignment done. All in all, today's trip to the dealer cost me $588.95. I also have my cruise control cable held together by a twist-tie from a loaf of bread (previous owner's doing). So that'll need to be replaced soon too.

The joys of owning a vehicle :D
