What To Use?!?

Hey all,

 

So the Black Magic tire wet I use is leaving the tires looking almost brown once it wears off. Im worried that this tire wet is damaging the tire, and want to switch to a new brand. So two questions, Is the brownish color a bad thing, or just a coincidence? And what should i replace the black magic with if it is the problem??

 

 

Second question.

 

What do you all use to clean your interior?? I want something that wont damage the dash, i hear that armorall and similar products w/ silicone in them will dry out the materials. I think i've got the seats covered, im using the turtle wax leather conditioner, but i want something to clean everything but the seats.

I use 303 on the tires. Doesn't give the wet look but it keeps them black and REALLY protects the rubber. It came from the aerospace industry and I tried it on a recommendation and now I use it for anything rubber or plastic inside and out. That includes everything in the engine bay too including hoses. Give it a try, I think you will like it.

i dont use shiny s**t on my tires, looks goofy after driving in sand. i clean the entire interior with a water rag, except window cleaner on the windows. I dont like the way armor-all feels or smells in the interior.

i agree with Loomis 462, armor=all feels slippery and dust really coats itself onto the dash after you apply it, as for tires, i found this nissan brand tire shine that goes on and looks wet but will not attract anything onto it, it also works on shoes too.

Based on your description, I would say that you are simply seeing the brake dust build-up. That browning is not caused by your tire or by a cleaner. Black Magic works OK at best. I would switch to Teflon tire spray. It's the best stuff I've found to date. It lasts a long, long time and doesn't sling up onto your bodywork. It's not the best for rubber or black plastic trim. Traditional stuff works better on that.

At the shop, we use a product called Blue Max. It is purchased in big jugs and is a concentrate. It gets mixed with water and then put into a spray bottle. It can clean almost anything. I don't think regular consumers can purchase this stuff, so you may to look for a general all-purpose cleaner. Remember that a conditioner is the second step in the cleaning process for leather. You need to clean it first and remove all the junk that is trapped in the leather's porse skin. Once you have opened up the skin and released the junk, then let it dry, and condition it. Think of conditioner as a sealer. If you just apply the conditioner, you are simply trapping junk on top of the leather. Those all-in-one leather cleaner/conditioners do not work. You have to use two different products for best results. Use a scrungy pad to lightly work the dirt, oil, ect.. off the leather when cleaning it. Wipe with a rag, then condition. Do not Armorall your interior. Once it has been applied, you have to keep doing it over and over and over, or else it looks horrible. Armorall will also reflect sun light into your eyes off your dashboard.

For the tires, I've tried a bunch of different products. I like Meguiars endurance which is more of a gel. I don't know if I have a favorite spray as most that I've tried have done a good job. A damp towel to wipe dust works well on my interior, and once clean, I use Meguiars NXT protectant.

303....all the way....inside and out. I have tried a lot of things over the years, but this stuff is truly amazing.

 

Hard to find, sometimes (at least in my neck of the planet), but well worth it. Armour all bites.

I'm with loomis..good old soap and water works best with no glare (very little soap)

Thanks guys, I'll be headin up to the store this morning... I just need to replace my black magic, thankfully the bottle is just bout empty so im not wastin a lot.

 

For the interior I might use Lemon Pledge (for electronics). My dad said thats what he's been using and it does a pretty good job. Its either that or just a damp towel.

I usually use 303 on the interior. I use the armor all tire spray on the tires. They have never turned brown. Only thing that wears it off is rain/water

I prefer Meguiars products because they don't leave that sticky, shiny, greasy film that attract dusts.

 

Their stuff is expensive, but i much prefer their product line to anything Armor All puts out.

I use wesleys bleach white and scrub my tires, then use the black magic spray.
