Splash Guard Recommendation

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to get some opinions on splash guards. Do you recommend:

- GM Contoured

- GM Molded

- Husky

- Others???

The GM contoured guards are fairly cheap (looks like under $15 per pair). The GM molded guards look like they overlap the fender a bit more. Are the Husky similar to the GM molded guards?

The Husky comes with a protective film for the paint. What about the GM molded guards? If not maybe I could buy some protective film and apply it before installing the guards.

The truck type is in the signature.

Also interested to hear if someone has a negative about splash guards in general.

Thanks,

Chris

I have had the husky mudflaps on my truck since day 1 they are very nice I would get them again

I put the GM molded flaps on the day after I bought the pickup. I just recently took them off and the paint was still in great condition. They sure help keep alot of crap off of you pickup, I highly recommend them.

I have run husky liners on my last 2 rigs and installed many sets for friends and relatives. Better than OEM flaps in my opinion...

I vote for the GM molded ones.

They don't come with protective film though,I would definetly buy some and put it on however,Thats what I did with my new '07.

Where is the best place to buy them? Ebay? I am looking for a set for my rig ... idealy with Taz on them, kinda partial to him. BUT I want the nice factory fit.

I would also recommend the molded ones. I put them on my 04 right after I got it and they've worked well. I'd heard that they may take some paint off so I put the protective tape on as well.

What tape is good to use as protective tape? Black electrician's tape?

I have a set of moulded GM splash guards on my truck and I have a feeling that the front guards act as sails at speed, catching a lot of wind, which cannot be good for fuel economy.

I am thinking about buying just the plain flat version splash guards from GM.
