Tahoe Ltz Questions

Hey All,

I just bought a 2007 Tahoe LTZ with the following:

Sandstone exterior and Ebony interior

Options: Navigation with back up camera, rear seat entertainment, retractable running boards, sunroof and GM performance exhaust (touring version).

I'm turning in my 2003 Yukon XL 2500.

I have two initial questions I'm hoping you can help me with.

Is the front valance/air dam necessary? It hangs down very low and I would like to remove it if it doesn't hurt performance etc...

Also, has anyone debadged the rear of their Tahoe yet? I prefer the clean look. Can you take off the bowtie, flex fuel and tahoe emblems like you could on the older models?

Thanks for your help,

Jeff

Well I know you can remove the Tahoe and FlexFuel emblems but not sure on the bowtie. I was wondering the same thing on the new LTZ Silverado I ordered. I have found it easiest to use dental floss to remove the others by slowly working it back and forth behind the emblems and then removing the sticky stuff left over with Goobegone or however you spell it.

Grats on the nice ride...

I'll start with the flex fuel and tahoe emblems first.

What about the front valence? Has anyone removed this? It hangs so low. Is it for improved air flow/mileage?

BLK Chevy,

I will post some pics after the immediate mods. Gotta tint the front windows, shave the emblems, remove the valence, polish the hell out of the 20's.

I pick it up tomorrow at 11:00AM and the fun can begin.

I would imagine the fromt valence is for highway fuel economy. I have never tried removing one, but if it hurts mpg that bad, you could always put it back.

Yes, it's actually an aerodynamic piece, and they usually have some effect on air flow for cooling. In this case, it's mostly just as another aerodynamic flow addition and for gas mileage concerns--GM was going for every little 0.01% they could. That said, there's really no "harm" in removing it, aside from it looking bad because of the mounts for it still there and sticking out (at least as someone has said).

Here's a few good threads:

Congrats on the purchase.

Are you going to run flexfuel? Did you get 4wd or 2wd? I have been looking at the tahoes and probably next summer if all goes well I will get a 2wd LT (dont need all the goodies) with the 5.3 and flexfuel.

Caddycrusier, Thank you for the links. That will definitely change my approach. I think I will trim the valence as apposed to removing it now.

Ryan, To my knowledge, flexfuel is not yet offered in the Seattle area. However, I'm going to try it when I go down to Eugene, OR next weekend. I got the 4X4.

HD03, You're sure right about the pins. I removed the flexfuel and all Tahoe emblems this morning and when I started on the bowtie I saw the pins and reattached it. I might paint it now to match the body.

Thanks for all your help. I love the way the Tahoe drives compared to my 2003 Yukon XL 2500.

Jeff
