Went to the strip today for the Test and Tunes, ran 4 times. Im very upset to say I ran 15.0 and 15.1's all day. It doesnt make sence, because Im running less weight (no spare or tailgate) and a better tune supposidley (sp?)(93 instead of 87) and ran .1 - .2 slower than my original times. Heres some videos and pics - some videos suck. I beat a Durango, 24v Taurus, SVT Contour, and a Daytona Ram. I left the time slips in my truck, Ill get pics of them up soon. I think it was a bad day for everyone, atleast 40% of the people raceing spun out off the line. I guess that Rumble Bee I raced on the street spun harder than I thought...I think it may be because of the code my trucks throwing - P0446 Im taking it in Monday or Tuesday to the dealer.

Me vs Daytona - I ran 15.1, he ran 15.59, sorry video doesnt show, Ill put up the slip.

I am wondering if you would have dont better with the tailgate up? I know that you would have prolly done worse with it down for sure but I wonder what a tonnoe cover would do for you?

Yeah its something like that :D Its something around the gas tank, Im taking it to the dealer Monday or Tuesday. Im hoping its something to explain my ET's! I was wondering the same thing about the tailgate, I removed it for the hell of it just for weight, I might go to the track I ran at this past summer, and run with the tailgate, the tracks much closer. The track I went to today was the only one in Ohio that I could find that had Test and Tune today. If the truck doesnt run any better there its ok because Im getting a shift kit and retune anyways :chevy: Time to have zero Torque management!

I did do one run with traction control on out of curiosity, it didnt make any difference. Roasting the tires didnt make a difference either, I roasted the tires before I ran the Daytona, and I mean roasted! Bouncing off rev limiter for a few seconds burn out. That was the only close race I had, I only had maybe half a length between us.

Schmids5.3l, Nice R/T, even the red light was very close at -.109. You had nice consistant times every run. You would kick butt bracket racing!

Yeah, don't roast the radials before. You want to keep those tires nice and cool before you launch.

Were you running max inflation?

Did you try a run with tow/haul on?

Were you brake launching or were you just kind of feathering the throttle into the launch to avoid spinning?

Sounds good 04silverado!

I tryed different methods each time I ran. The first run was a minor brake stand launch, maybe 1000 rpms, no burnout. 2nd time roasted the tires and just mashed the gas. 3rd time I didnt roast and brake standed until around 1500 rpms, 4th run I roasted the tires big time and left traction control on, no brake stand. I didnt mess with tow/haul as it shifts way early at WOT, a bit above 5000, but I did want to just launch with tow/haul and turn it off at 4000 or so, but 1st gear winds up pretty quick. There was no feathering, it was pedal to the medal. Traction was good all 4 runs. The ball and chain works Wednesday, which is sweet because thats Test and Tune at the close by track I ran a 14.9 on with the 87 tune. So Ill be going back, probobly wont have videos, but will have time slip pics.

Oh yeah, I didnt check the tire pressure, this was kind of a last minute decision. I'd imagine there max, if not close. Im thinking about deflateing the rears a bit, but traction is already good. The only reason I roasted the tires is because I was stumped/pissed about my slower ET, so I tryed different methods.

Is that how your tune effects tow/haul? My stock tow/haul shifts at a higher rpm than regular mode for me. If I don't have tow/haul on and I WOT it shifts at like 51-5200 max.

Thats strange! Stock in non tow/haul mine shifted at close to 5300 WOT. Stock with tow/haul it was 5000 at WOT, I think. Now in non tow/haul it shifts at 5800-5900. Tow haul is close to the same at shift points.

Yes with tow/haul on, it will shift sooner than with it off. So in a stock truck it is faster to leave tow/haul of.

Now on my custom tune, I had the shift points of the tow/haul raised , and it shifts firmer than my normal driving with no tow/haul.

UPDATE: I returned this past Thursday and ran 14.9's, only difference was I ran 89 octane...some 93 tune... I'm looking forward to the dyno this summer, along with more mods.
