Your wiper pulse module has failed. It is listed a cover kit in the GM part cat. It is the circuit board hooked the wiper motor.

I agree. I did have this same exact thing happen with my 98. But you don't need to replace anything if you have access to a soldering iron. The problem with the circuit board was all of the solder joints on the board were done incorrectly and they cracked. If I remember correctly there are 3 or 4 torx screws that hold the cover on and the board comes right out. If you haven't soldered before or are worried about soldering a circuit board it's nothing to be afraid of. It is not even a micro circuit board. The circuits on it are big and clunky ( to carry the amperage of the wiper motor) and easy to fix. You just need to hold the iron to the failed/cracked joints and remelt the solder, you may need to add a small amount of solder to some of the joints but thats about it. Once you fixed the joints just put it back in the truck and your all set. I did this fix in about 15 minutes two years ago and I haven't had a problem since.

This has been an off and problem with my truck for years. :) This sounds like an easy fix. Question: where is the curcuit board located?

Thanks

The circuit board is located behind the black plastic cover on the firewall attached to the wiper motor

Thanks for the help. I am in the office and don't have access to my truck but I assume the location you refer to is in the engine compartment on the firewall.

This tip should save me a couple of hundred $ which likely the reason I never took in to get it fixed.

Thanks again.
