I have a 2006 Silverado, that came with rear drum brakes. Does anybody here know what I need to do to swap disc brakes in the rear? Is there a kit out there?

Personally, I'd suggest sticking with the drums. I've driven the silverados with the rear disc and the later models with rear drums... and the drums work much better. I also did a rear drum to disc conversion on an OBS Tahoe, and it sucked.

The disc conversion wasn't worth the cost/effort and didn't improve brake performance. If anything, it made it worse. Ended up going back to the Drums.

I agree. Don't f**k with a good thing. I have an 02 Silverado with disc in the rear and the ONLY time the brakes feel good is after you wash it. Lets face it you can't wash it every mile to make the brakes good. I just got done doing a brake job, New rotors and pads, and it feels a little better but not the way it should. But after I come out of the car wash it grabs good. Rear disc should never be put on a truck in my opinion. There is just too much road crap that can get on there and screw up your rotors and other things. Just my .02 worth.

I've had a 72 chev blazer,83 K5 blazer,95 K5 blazer, 95 ext cab and a 99 tahoe. all had rear drums.

I also had a 2002 z71 tahoe with rear discs. Now that own a 07 NBS I have notice that it dosent dive hardly at all compaired with all the disc drums ones I owned, stops as good or better then my 02 with discs. other plus it the park brake actually holds.

I think the newer dynamic rear proportioning has a lot to do with the way the brakes work better on the 07's

I want to put disc on the rear because I want to put a sick brake kit on my truck, a kit from brembo or wilwood but I haven't found any, they only make brake kit for the older Silverado like the 1999-2004, but not for the new Silverados. Pus the new trucks brake better than the old ones with disc because the new ones got bigger disc and calipers that's why they brake better. The whole front brakes were upgraded, that's why the brakes feel better on the new ones, it isn't because of the rear drum brakes. I want to upgrade my brakes because my rear drum brakes are wasted and I need to buy new rotors, brake pads, and new calipers, so that why I was wondering if anybody here knows what I need to do to swap to disc in the rear or if there's a kit out there?

Baer makes brake kits for our trucks. I to was upset with the rear drums and although compared to my dodge they suck ass, I have also driven a NBS model with rear discs and there no better. Face it, GM's truck brakes SUCK. Im going with a full Baer conversion, its pricy but to me, worth it.

Do the Baer brake kit come with everything to swap to rear disc? How much is it?

Try to find a SSBC kit if you can - Baer kits suck (it was around $900 on sale), or at least the one they have for the OBS trucks do. They come with horrible instructions, and in my case they even required turning down (grinding) the axle flanges so the rotor would fit. In fact, the set I bought awhile ago was ultimately useless because of the cheap e-brake mechanism they use. Its so weak it couldn't even hold the vehicle in place when you put it in D. It actually failed inspection, which is another reason I went back with the drums. We even checked with Baer, had a few "experts" look at it, no luck. They did sugg recalibrating it, still didn't help though.

I even had matching Baer rotors in the front, which looked sweet, but they warped after a couple hundred miles. Friend also bought front baer rotors for his 2-door Tahoe, and they warped even worse than mine.

Needless to say, I'll never buy another set of Baer brakes.

What did you buy there defective discount set? Baer brakes suck? There performance braking systems are second to none. You want to talk about junk SSBC is the cheapest quality crap you can buy. As far as your rotors warping, were you still using the stock crappy from calipers? Id be willing to be you were. Id say your information here is about as far from wrong as it can get......

Just saw the price you listed $900 on sale. What complete front and rear brake kit from baer costs under a grand? If you just installed some half assed kit as stated previously, that is your problem. Spend the 3K, do it right and it will stop like a sportscar..... People like you give companies a bad name because you go cheap then bash there product..
