Thinking Of Switching To Royal Purple...

If I do switch, do I use the same oil as what I am using with Mobil 1 which is 5w30?

What fluid do I need for my rear end? Truck is a 2002 4x4 with 4.8 liter.

They make some pretty wild claims of gained HP using their products...Has anyone found that to be true?

I would use the same weight as the Mobil you have been using. I cannot answer your diff fluid question.

I do not think you will see any noticable MPG or HP gain with RP over Mobil. Not to say it is not a great oil, I just do not think it will change your MPG or HP enough for you to know it when compared to Mobil.

Agreed. I've run both and couldn't tell the difference. The difference in price couldn't be justified so I switched back to Mobil 1.

The whole reason I am thinking of switching is to get back to a FULLY synthetic oil. The claims of increased hp & mpg has nothing to do with my decision, although it would be nice.

I can get the RP here for $5.79/qt through my job. That is about the same as I have been paying for the Mobil 1.

You could check out "Bob is the oil guy" web site. (www.bobistheoilguy.com) which has exhaustive comments and research about all of the different oils, fluids and filters.

BITOG is to oil, what this site is to GM trucks.
