I just put on the painted matching bug/stone guard and if I go above 68-70 I hear this funky noise from the right pillar post on the passenger side, I dont know if its a combination of the factory radio antenna and the deflector making the noise. anyone else have one of these bug guards?

That's a commom complaint when a bug guard is installed on a GM truck, what you are more than likely hearing is the weatherstripping on the right and left sides of the windshield. The fix for the issue is to tape them down with 3M double sided tape, but I had better luck by using Permatex Weatherstripping Glue on my 06.

I had this happen on my 2005 truck i drive for work...the day after i put it on i was driving down the interstate and the noise was so bad that i pulled over and took it off.

well if thats the case I wish I never bought the d**n thing, I also wondered if it effects the MPG of the truck, I was going to go with the 3m film protection, I just tried some 3m tape unde the edge of the window trim that seems to help.

When I heard that sound upon installing mine I thought about the same thing, sounded like I had an angry squirrel trying to get at me. Once I used the Permatex Weatherstripping stuff I haven't heard the sound since, and I like the thing, actually think it looks kinda sharp.

I hear the noise too but I haven't tried to stop it yet. By taping, glueing and so on does that make the windshield harder to replace when you need to change?

I have a Lund on my 04 and have done some testing with & without it and seenothing i can record in fuel economy but the bugs and crap hit the windshield without it.

I have a NBS with a bug shield as well, and also have that very noise on the passenger side. I was looking at the truck this weekend and was trying to find were that noise may be coming from. After reading some post I was looking at the wind shield but I thought that it might be the door seals. I was looking and noticed that the passenger side was not not as tight but I really don't know. When people say the strip around the windshield are you reffering to the rubber that actually touches the class that is kind of like a flap? I have read were some people are using silicone but I would like to know if they are using it under the windshield flap?

I wonder why it is only the passenger side? Will the dealer fix this?

I have noticed no loss in MPG with mine and I have had it for a couple of weeks now. :D

yes its the plastic around the pass side windshield I stuck some pieces of 3m tape under it and it quieted the noise, apparently the air lifts the edge of the weatherstrip and it flutters against the glass ever so lightly. if I have the radio on I dont hear it so much. you can take the screws out and the strip comes off or at least in my case I took the first 4 screws out and put a thin piece of 3m double sided.

good to hear the MPG is not effected, lot of websites say these effect mpg by 1mpg I think they are refering to the old style flat guards. the new style ones on the last few years have a Aero shape and look nicer.

This is STILL happening?

Weird.

I installed an EGR Bug Deflector to my NBS last night and did not notice any noise going to work this morning. I may turn the radio off this afternoon and see if I hear anything. I've not seen the GM Deflector, I wonder if it's shaped differently than the EGR Deflector?

That is the kind that I have. I had the noise only when it was windy out side, weird but it is true. I did the 3M tape thing last night, see if that works. No noise this morning. :D

On the 06, GM provided a roll of 3M double sided tape with their bug shield. It is recommended to run the tape the full length of the weatherstrip. I bought the bugshield in an opened box so the instructions and tape were missing. I went to the dealer for a fix and they used black silicone caulk on the top half only. I continued to hear the flapping, bought some 3M tape and installed it full length on both sides. No noises since. Probably the same with the 07s
