I thought it would be interesting to see which of the Chevrolet V 8s may mean something to us. I could not get all of them in the poll due to the limit of 10 items so I left out some of them like the 305, 307, 348, 409 etc.

I also included some of the new engines such as the 5.3 and 6.0 so the younger members could participate if they wanted to.

Now, choose the one that means something to you or the one that the mear mention of the name strikes fear in the hearts of Ford and Mopar guys.

I had to go with the 350 just because it was the mainstay of GM's small block for 40 years. It was used in just about anything that moved: cars, trucks, motorhomes, boats. It may have never been the most powerful but it was always a strong reliable engine.

You left out the first one, the 265 of 1955. How I remember that back in High School. When it came out, and then when they added the "Power Pack" later in the year. A cool 180 BHP. That's the one with memories for me.

AND, how could anyone not remember the first big block, the 348 that grew into the 409 with those scalloped heads? The Beach Boys even sang about it.

I am the one vote for the 396. It seemed to be the monster in the SS Chevelle when I was growing up. However, the 427 has a ring to it that will make the hair stand up on the back of the neck of many Chevrolet guys and make the knees weak in a Ford guy.

I realize there are other polls out these for GM engines but I thought this one would be fun.

327 was always my favorite BB killer, as a former Mopar guy (as my name implys), none really struck fear into my heart though. The 69 Superbee that got killed by me in my Dmax about a month ago is still wondering what happened...

My Dad bought my Mom a 69 Camaro Pace Car. 4 Spd 350 with cowl induction and a convertible. This was a SS RS package and what I thought was a very fast car. I was 8 years old and I can remember begging my Dad to "ring it out". There was a guy in our community who was not playing with a full deck who had a lime green 69 (I think) Superbee 440 6pk with the pistol grip 4 speed. He and my Dad were always digging each other until one day the green SB appeared in my Dad's rearview mirror. He came up beside the Camaro and they both reached for third and took off. My Dad said the last thing he saw was the puff of smoke from the SB's tires when he grabbed 4th gear. My Dad did not stay in the Camaro long because he felt it was no use, the SB had pulled him so far that he was ashamed.

Now if that would have been a 427 Yenko, it would have been Chicken for Lunch.

My choice was the 427 from a 69\' ZL1 Camaro. I wasnt born for another 22 years but I still love it.

My second choice if it was a choice would have been the 572R, 720hp out of the box!!! :chevrolet:

Well I added more more for the 427!! I would love to have a 68 Chevelle SS with the tri-power 427, add a 6 speed stick, with 410's or lets get crazy and use some 488's, and while we are dreaming let us get some of that sorry old 100 octane gas that we would spill at $0.30 gallon prices and not worry about it, with some new tire tech and watch those rice burners scratch there heads because all they heard was the swooish of air as I fly past them. Oh and I forgot a good set of mufflers that would make there fart cans fall off. :chevrolet:
