Looking For Tips On Install Of A Door Handle

I tried last night for three hours to get the exterior door handle on my 89 Sierra regular cab. Does anyone have any tips on how to do this. I tried to fish my arm in and around but I can't seem to get my hands where I need them to be to get the new one back on. Thanks in advance.

those are definetly a pain in the a$$.... take the door panel off and take the window out... you will end up spending less time this way...if you've done that already just keep at it...it takes patience. i can really think of any tricks especially if the window is already out

Been there,done that,spent big money fixing my #$% up.On the exterior door handle,do not try to yank the handle out by force.Use a small screwdriver to pry off the clips connecting the rods to the handle.I had to replace all my rods.Here are some links with pix I found useful.
