Downfiring 10" Sub Box.. Help!

just built my first downfiring sub box for my 10" RF Shallow P3.

 

How much clearance do i need to have between top of sub & floor???

-aka- how far does the sub move forward during use???

 

i have very limited space & of course this kind of info was not in manual!

 

 

Anyone know?????? Please help asap!

I have a down fire box for my 12's and i would say there is about a 2 1/2" clearance.

Well you only need about one inch for clearance. But I have no idea if it would sound better with one inch or 3.

I've got a 10" Polk sub in a downfire box with about 3/4 inch clearance. Sounds great. See if you can find the specs on your sub and look for total excursion measurements. That is how far the speaker will move.

I was curious of the same thing. I just got my new Silverado and can't stand not having subs in it.
