2" Leveling Kits For Nbs

Recommended Posts

I do not like how low the front sits on my pickup, Hate the raked look. Id like to level it out with one of several kits on the market. I have researched these some and Ride and Cost are the two fbig factors I am looking at.

First, if it negatively affects ride I dont want anything to do with it.

Second, Cost, some of these kits are $200+

The kits costing $200 claim factory ride quality, while some of the cheaper variations ($80+) claim to offer "near factory ride quality" Well, needless to say, I want factory ride qualtity.

I guess what I am looking for its opinions/experiences on brands out there and what the results were aside from just the better, leveled look. Has anyone found a kit that equals factory ride and is easy to install with no special tools needed. Cost? Ease of install? Quality? RIDE??

Thanks, Paul

Hi Paul,

I had the same concerns as you, and researched the kit made by ReadyLift. They seem to be the "go-to" source for leveling kits, and I must say, I have heard nothing but praise from people that have them. I know that it will run you about $1000 for the kit, install, and an alignment, so be prepared for that. Also, you may want to wait until you need tires so you can get everything all at once.

I am going to get the ReadyLift for my 2005 when i go for new tires in about 10k miles. I'll let you know how it goes. Also, there is a thread just below this one on the same topic. Just FYI. Maybe some good infor from others will appear there as well.

Good Luck!

Fabtech 2" kit:

-no noticeable change in ride quality

-metal, not poly!

-rear is now less than 1" higher than front

-kit & professional install = $300

-alignment @ tire shop = $50

any kit for NBS isn't DIY unless you have a that tool that holds springs/shocks in compression!

in theory, all metal kits will ride about the same, b/c all you're doing is putting in a spacer on top of springs. main decision is whether you want one made of poly or metal... then choose brand.

fyi- the ReadyLift kit for NBS Sierra/Silverado is 1.5" & costs about $230.

Check out the Truxxx.com web site. I have heard good things about their leveling/lift kits.

I have the spacers from ccmoffroad (ebay). $92 shipped and they took me about two hours to install. It probably would have gone even faster with a spring compressor but one is not necessary. It also would have been easier if I had gone at the studs from the engine bay instead of the wheel well but that never occured to me (D'OH!).

My truck rides great, and the alignment stayed exactly the same, so I didn't get one done. IMHO its not worth it to spend the extra money on the readylift spacers or any others as most of them work exactly the same. Why get "CNC machine cut polished billet aluminum" when you're never going to see it once its in?

It looks like these kits all raise the front. Since my driving is all on road, I would like to lower the rear 2 inches. Anybody know who makes a kit for lowering the rear of the 07 NBS?

So how do you like them compared to other brands?? Any pictures?? I've been looking at those. I'd like to see them on a truck. How much did it actually raise the truck, I know it says 2.5", but what'd you REALLY get?

Thanks.

These are the first ones I've actually installed but I've seen the others available and it doesn't matter if they're round, square, steel, or aluminum, they all work the same. As for the fender measurements, I took them but never wrote them down and can't remember now. but I have a couple pictures. The camera angle is a little diffenerent but you can see the difference.

not doubting your skills, but interested on how you know it's all still exactly in alignment?

just b/c your steering wheel doesn't shake doesn't mean everything's ok...

adding spacers changes the geometry... i couldn't feel any change when driving w/ kit installed, but my toe was out of alignment.

Looks like a pretty good difference. Thats the kit I will probably go with. I've been giving my dealer hell the past two weeks lol, I've had him looking for all kinds of trucks and making him sweat lol. I'll either be getting a new crew cab NBS Brown truck, or Duramax classic truck. I've got him looking for left over 06' Duramaxs now lol.

I would go with Fabtech, You can't beat the price for the value of the product, and they don't lie when they say they maintain factory ride.

You don't need a "kit"....Just some drop-shackles. I just ordered a set from Stylin Trucks for $45.

If there are blocks you could remove them...
