Armor-all Dash

I was curious as to if using armor all on the dash will cause the pores to close up and eventually start to crack the dash. Is this true?

I have an 01 that I have washed everyother week (give or take) and for almost eight years with armor all on the dash with no problems.

Won't touch the stuff. Everything I ever Armoralled started cracking shortly after using. I use a meguires cleaning product instead. Forget about it!

I started to notice that on hot days that it seemed to "evaporate" onto my windshield and cause a film to build up. I started using some other cleaner (can't remember what it's called right now) that works fine and doesn't give me the foggy windsheild.

Armor All won't cause these dash boards to crack. Not sure about the 07's, but 06 and below are made of plastic with a rubber coating on top. Pretty durable stuff. Putting vinyl protectant on older vinyl dashboards (the kind that have a cushion below) has caused cracking because it would dry them out if you only occasionally used it.

 

I personally don't use it anymore because of the glare it causes on the dash. I just wipe it down with a wet cloth. Just my personal preference.

The 07 dashes are extremly tough I cant imagine it would cuase anything to crack, my dad and mom both us it on there 07's and it seems to work good, except my whole family farms, and if you like driving with your widows down on dusty roads , forget about it, my dads dash is brown 99% of the time

amor-crack may not cause cracking on the new dashes, but the film it creates on your glass is something that some car detailers can't even remove............

 

it wasn't on the poll, but "303" protectant is about the only surface protectant that most guys (especially the Vette owners) will use these days..........Armor-crack has alkeehawl in it and will eventually ruin anything it's applied to........"just the facts mam"

Never use the stuff, I just clean the dash and leave it at that.

I have an 03...the dash is made of hard plastic...so why bother. I use Windex multi-surface. For the Vinyl I use leather wipes. I don't like the shininess of armor-all like products.

Too much glare, I damp wipe mine with a towel while drying the truck after washing

And another for 303. A little pricey, but it is great stuff. I first started using it for the vinyl on my boat and then decided to start using it on my vehicles. IMO the armor-all is too shiny resulting in glare. Although I never had a dash crack when I did use armor-all.

I use Zaino leather in a bottle or Adams Interior leather conditioner - both have UV protectants in them and are low gloss. Never had an issue with cracking, etc....have been using them in my 02 Firehawk as well since the day I bought it over 5 yrs ago and the interior still looks brand new.

Duragloss vinyl protectant for me on all plastic and vinyl and Duragloss Leather conditioner on the leather surfaces. Have used it for 2 years on the Yukon XL and for 11 years prior on an Intrepid. The Leather conditioner is the best I have ever used and it smells just like freshly tanned leather.

 

The leather seats in the Intrepid were absolutely new at 11 years old. There may be others just as good or better than Duragloss but I have no reason to look elsewhere.
