My 2001 still has the factory battery. What would

be the best replacement battery, before this one goes

out on me. I have a 2001 8.1/allison?

Look into an Optima Red Top, well worth the money!

If your 6 year old GM Delco battery has lasted this long and is still working that seams to me it's a good brand. I would stick with a Delco Battery.

Do not buy a red Optima. What a pile of $hit. It took my dumb ass 3 batteries to realize this. Maybe other people have had luck, but not me. My friend Nick went through 2 himself in 2 years. I highly recommend the yellow top. My uncle had his for 10 years, and still had it in the truck when he sold it. It was so old, when I asked him how much he paid, he said, "$75.00 what a rip off." LOL I love mine IMHO

Can't go wrong with Delco. The original Delco still going strong in our 2001 Odyssey. I just replaced the battery in my truck, also a Delco.

I've had two Optima red tops and had good luck with them - I had one in my 03 Silverado 1500 and have one in Firehawk now. The Auto Zone Duralast Golds are nice batteries too.

I just bought the new DieHard Platinum, supposed to be better than the Optima.

Guess you're unlucky. We have a red top that we bought in 1994 and it's still going strong!

Interstate is a good battery as well, if you don't want to shell out the cash for the Optima. (Interstate manufactures the Optima line).
