Finally Fixed My A/c

It's no wonder my A/C was only working on 5. Put the new resistor block in, took about 20 minutes, and cost was $58 from the dealer. Pretty easy to replace just need to drop the shroud under the dash on the passenger side covering the blower motor and heater. Then just unplug the wiring and swap with new part. A/C on all speeds again! No more freezing or baking.....

 

Thought I'd share it with the board in case someone else runs into this problem.

By the way the dealer said the new part has been upgraded and they have not had any returned like the old part # which seemed to last about a year for many people.

I had thought about replacing the 3 resistors myself for a couple bucks, but with all of the moisture in the HVAC system it corroded so badly that it was not even worth trying. Some components sure are not made to last....

Do you happen to have the part number for this, it just finally went on my 04.

No sorry I do not have the actual part number, but any dealer will know exactly what you are asking for when you tell them your A/C is only working on the highest setting. This is what the resistor block defaults to when it gets fried.

Just replaced mine. The lowest fan speed went out. It was about $32 at a local parts store and easy to install.
