Can Anyone Tell Me What This Is?

Hi,

 

I've got a 94 Silverado 1500 4x4, 5.7l. I was replacing my waterpump yesterday, and noticed this green wire dangling on the driverside. Whatever it is doesn't seem to affect the startup or driving :-D but I'd like to replace it.

 

It seems that it connects to the rest of whatever is bolted down there in between the sparkplug holes on the driverside.

Looks like the coolant temperature sensor.

I thought it might be the water temp sensor, but the connector is different. I'll have a look at a coolant temp sensor and let you know.

That is the temp sensor for the gauge in the cluster not the temp sensor for the ECM.

Apparently that's why my cluster temp gauge wasn't working. Managed to get a new one installed, and it's seems to be working fine now. The original part I purchased had a different plug (two pins instead of a pin and a blade) - the pin and blade actually showed up in the parts lists as a V6 instead of a 5.7 (which is what I have).

 

I've got to get the oil pressure sensor next - the oil pressure gauge has quite a range from 0 to 60 - that one looks a little more like a PITA to replace... :-)
