Hypertech Max Energy?

I'm about to spend $380.00 for a hypertech max energy tuner. I would get the wait4me, but they don't have it for my 07 NBS.

So is this a goood idea or bad. I'll make my decision soon/today.

I'd wait. From everything I've read, no one apart from maybe a custom dyno tune w/ EFI live or the sort can remove Torque management on the NBS.

HP tuners can do it......

I still dont understand why people waste there money on handhelds, for a few hundred more you can buy a system that allows you to completely custom tune your vehicle as well as give you the capability to tune other peoples vehicles. HP currently has the capability to tune just about every OBD2 GM car and truck on the market and will soon be able to do dodge and ford.

Im not sales rep for them and im not getting paid to advertise for them, they are simply the best.... Hands down.

Well I got it. Hypertech Max Energy programer. This new one is updatable by USB cable to internet and I can use on any NBS gas GMtruck with 4 speed auto trans. like mine. It adjusts for tire size, rev limiter, shift point and firmness, top speed, rear gear?, DTC?, and it also reads and resets fault codes. It was released 070707. I can't wait. Should get it by Saturday or Monday.

Nope, but I'm looking forward to your review! I got the Edge and it seems to do everything the Hypertech Max does except shift firmness. I'm hoping they add that in a later revision as they do offer it in their tuners for Ford products.

I just read the old thread about the W4M, Edge And the other tuners. It got me all excited, but disapointed that nobody was mentioning the Hypertech Max Energy. It might be that it just came out. What I didn't see on that thread was the capability to download updates. Now, the TM is not mentioned with the Hypertech YET. But like you said, they may come out with it soon and I could just download it and update my tune. I still can not wait, and I'm really excited.

One thing I'm wondering though is; say I have the tune that I like from this Hypertech and someone else comes up with the capability to adjust the TM, would I be able to just add that to what I have, or just start all over?

Cool, let us know how you like their new handheld. I had actually called Hypertech shortly after it was released. The new max engery has the same tune as their previous unit it's replacing (Power Programmer III), and as before, makes no changes to TM. It's basically in a new smaller/compact form factor, improved display, and it's internet updatable.

IT's already in. I just ordered it yesterday. I'm goping to buy a clock and do the 0-60 first then tune it and do it again hopfully it'll be done this evening. I've got other stuff to do to.

Hate to burt your bubble but if it is just a PP# in a new package don't hold youbreath for any big gains. I took mine on and off my old truck with no noticeable difference.

Paul the edge does stiffen the shift points, it just doesnt let you choose. The hypertech in my wifes 2004 tahoe on the 87 tune doesnt do much if anything. i dont personally like them beacuse you have to go through and choose every last deatil you want, some people like that extra. i have the edge and it has tunes already built in to choose from. you can nrefine several things and it also is internet updateable. let us know what it does.

Well I installed the tuner and didn't understand the idea that to adjust the rev limiter you have to do it in accord with shift points and vise versa. So, I probably allmost blew the tranny. I had 1st gear up to 5500rpm and then it wouldnt shift. It just wined till I released the gas. So I'm taking a break till tommorow, and I reset it back to factory. I was able to go from top speed of 97 mph to 107mph when I had to exit the freeway. I don't know how fast it will go.

The thing I don't like, is that from 0-60 my time was 11.2 sec before, 10.46 sec after then I set it back to factory, and got 10.6 sec. No matter what it sucks!!! Remember it is only a 4.8L. I think the main thing holding me back is NO torque too 0-30mph I could run faster than that on my feet well the first half anyways.

So if anyone has any advise, I need it. I'll get back to it tommorow. TIME

I figured it out!!! I called Hypertech today and they set me straight. I had the Rev limit and shiftpoints set wrong. Still not the best time, but 9.52 is a great improvement from 11.2 before.

The bad news is though they aren't ever going to do anything with the Torque managment. Oh well. I'd get in trouble if they did anyways.

Overall I think I like this tuner. The shift timing and firmness is great. It's even more fun to drive. Now If I can just stay out of the gas all the time, I could see an improvment there too.

We'll, I decided to return this thing. It doesn't do enough for 400 bucks. The gas miliage was most important and it didn't do anything for that. After a while I didn't like the firm shifting and I don't need the shift points that high.

Now the same problem stands. 0-40 sucks, I should buy a bus! It's not that bad but there is truely no torque at all! So now I think I wait till the wait4me tune is available for my truck. I don't have the time to send in my PCM and not have a vehicle. That's all I can think of for now. Still love the truck though.
