Homelink/ Garage Door Unit Problems

When I bought my 06 Sierra CC it did not come with the homelink unit. I really wanted it so I bought one off ebay and it seems to be wired differently than the non-homelink consoul.

 

When I open the door the illumination lights turn on on the homelink buttons but NOT the map lights. I turn the head lights on and nothing comes on. The homelink unit operates just fine but the map lights will not come on when I open the door. They will turn on if I push the black button, so I know they are not burned out. Do I need to switch the wires around?

 

Anyone else with this problem?

Double check your dome light auto override switch. Make sure it's still set to auto. Was there instructions that came with the new console?

No insturctions came with this unit, it was a ebay item out of a tahoe or somthing. the dome light is set to auto, so that doesnt seem to be the problem.
