Which Intake?

Try searching, like Jimmy said there are many threads on this. I'm actually on my way to pick up a K&N Aircharger Kit I ordered about a week ago for my NBS 07 Sierra Denali. I'm installing it this afternoon, and while I won't come back with dyno numbers, I'll certainly share my impressions with of it.

i have the K&N intake and I like it. I definitely noticed a difference. I rhink that it works well with my edge evolution and thats why I felt it better. My 2 alternatives were the GMPP CAI or the brute force like jimmy's. i read a review in petersens 4 wheel and offroad, in which they tested a brute force on a 5.3 tahoe, i believe an 04 model. anyway after and before installation they dyno'ed it. it made and extra 15 or 16 HP according to them. On my K&N it came with a dyno sheet/graph where they tested it on a NBS Yukon and it net'ed an extra 17.58 HP. I dont regret buying it though. I would stick with one of the 3 I listed above. The stock intake is restrictive as heck and looks like a big paintball gun.

I just installed an AEM Brute Force on my VMAX and love it. Very high quality also had one on my 07Classic 5.3. Seems to be one of the loudest intakes I have used. Before AEM I was using K&N on my vehicles, I just like the AEM better just my 2 cents!

i like the brute force as well. I had 2 reasons for going K&N. (1) i got it cheaper. (2) the K&N has a cover over the top of the filter to keep water and mud from getting on the filter. I knw what you are thinking, how can mud get by the wheel liners, well let me tell you, i got stuck Monday and itdamnsure got past the wheel liners. Under my hood looks like a muddy fender. Other than that I dont think it matters. The dry filter technology is cool. You was the filter with simple green according to my sources, which is neat to me.

Does anybody know which intake makes the most HP and TQ on a dyno? Thanks Guys

I'm in the market for a new intake as well. The one thing you should try to make sure is that your intake is in a fully sealed box. Volant makes a good one for the new trucks, I am also looking into GMs new CAI...its in a completely closed box away from all heat and it contains an oil free filter. There are alot out there and I am sure they all do pretty much the same for performance. Good Luck...let me know what you get.

Hey buddy, what bug shield do you have? I like how it sits up on the hood allowing us to still see the top chrome on the grill. With the AVS one that I have it covers it all up

Good looking truck guy, it looks alot like mine

WilliamsVortecMax, are those 285's or your truck. If so did you lose any mpg by adding them. I have heard that on the larger rims it wasnt as bad as the smaller rims(16). I know that I have lost mpg in the past for going to a 285, maybe like 1 mpg or so. Thanks.

Actually the AirAid with the MIT is louder than the AEM brute force. I had the AirAid Jr (replacement tube and replacement stock filter and utilizes the stock airbox) and it was loud, especially when towing something up a long steep hill. I now have the AEM brute force and it is actually quieter than the AirAid and does not have the really loud drone the AirAid had while towing. It also looks a lot nicer under the hood.
