Factory Exhaust

I'm looking to get a new exhaust put on my truck . I'm just wondering what brand is the factory exhaust closest to or made by ...Corsa , borla ?

 

I also want to know the benefits of say a dual exhaust vs the single exhaust ? Also the benefits of coming right off the heads vs doubling up after the muffler. I also want to know which brand is the loudest ? these new cabs are so quiet I can't even hear mine .

 

I just wanted to say that this site is great , not sure why I never found it before . I'm a hunting forum junkie but I'll be hanging out here also, more of a carpenter than a mechanic but I understand most things on em. I want to thank everyone for all the really good info.

GM's performance exhaust is now made by Borla.

Borla is a nice system. Perhaps on the quiet side for some. Corsa is also a nice system. Neither of them are loud in my book. With the NBS '07 GMs, the GMPP dual exhaust requires removal of the spare tire. Don't know if Borla's own system is the same way or not. Corsa's dual exhaust does NOT require removal of the spare.

 

I don't think you are going to see much difference going from after the y-pipe vs. hooking up with true duals. Just my opinion. I would just go with a cat-back system, but that's me.

Who is the loudest between say Flowmaster vs Magnaflow ? If I go single could I just replace the factory muffler with one of these and get the same results ...ie loud ?

I've never had a nice truck sounding exhaust before and I vow I'm gonna do it on the new truck , I just want to do it right and only once
