Do I Have A Sub?

I have a NBS Ext Cab, SLT with the Bose Stereo, do I have a sub? If so, where is it located? :D

I was under the impression the Bose system had a sub, but after reading several threads about which sub to buy and where to put it on the NBS's I'm starting to wonder... can anyone enlighten me on this?

Your sub should be located under the front portion of the console. Your Bose should have a sub control in the setup, just like the bass, and treble. Turn it WAY up and you should be able to tell if it is actually in there and working.

Hmmm... I don't have the Sub Control, just the Treble, Mid, and Bass, I wonder if the Ext Cab didn't get the Sub? I know Nissan did this in the Frontier, the Crew Cab with the Rockfort Fosgate system had a Sub, but the Ext Cab with the same system didn't!

Thanks for the response, but I'd still like to hear from some NBS Ext Cab owners with the Bose System to see if they have one! According to the GMC Site I should, but now I wonder because I didn't see a control specifically for the Sub. This is from the GMC site:

If it's like the sub in my YukonXL, you have to turn it way up before you notice. :D

Also, can anyone tell me where the other two speakers are too? According to GMC is has 8 speakers and a sub, I can only find 6, 1 in each of the front A Pillars, 1 in each of the front doors, and 1 in each of the rear doors... where are the last 2? I'm beginning to think I'm short a few speakers!

they may have the last two speakers in with the door or back ones ... kinda like a 2-way speaker .. and they are just counting it as seperate ...

on the sub in the console ... the last new one i saw that had been pulled out .. the sub is barely 6" in dia ... i couldn't see it making much of a difference.

6"! That's not a sub, most aftermarket door speakers are bigger than that! What a rip! I wonder if they are really Bose speakers? I know on the Nissan's they advertised a Rockfort Fosgate System, but the only component that was actually produced by RF was the Amp! I think these car companies take a pretty liberal license with what they advertise in the Audio Department!

just did some more research ... 6" dual voice coil sub ...

as for it acutally being bose .. i wouldn't doubt it ... most of their speakers are junk anyways ... its the cabinets that make them sound decent ...

So, what are you trying to tell me? Bose made the door panels, the A Pillar molding, and the center console? LOL!

the center console, enclosure design .. is a seperate peice of plastic that can unbolt from the rest of the console ...

and a fair amount of the 'bose' or other high end speakers i have pulled out of veheicles have some sort of baffle surrounding them, (or a part of them) which helps to tune the sound of them a bit more ...

that mixed with an amp that is matched to the speakers capibility ... and a head unit that is matched to the amp ... and thats the 'premium system' ... which is rarely worth the money spent to get it....

hehe and when i say cabinets .. i mean their home stuff ... (where they should have stayed, since most of it is overpriced for what it can actually do) ...

Great thread... I have wondered the same things. I just got a 2007 NBS LTZ with the Bose.

My questions is, can we change out the factory 6in sub, and replace it with a 8 or 10 in?? Is there enough room? I would like a little more base... but don't want to go the JL stealthbox route... that would cost over 1K for the equipment and install ...plus I don't like the idea of the installer tearing apart the whole truck.

in the above links it shows what the enclosure looks like ... and the sub ... also the mounting location for the 'classic' trucks ...

with bose .. it is likely a transmission line enclosure, which is how they get most of their sound 'quality' ... so it isn't just as simple as putting another in it's place ... plus knowing them, it is likely some Odd Ohm'd speaker ... but you could pull it out of the enclosure and check to see ... it is still possible that another 6.5 middbass would work in there and offer a little improvement ...

That's good info... I wonder if anyone has any pics of the sub and enclosure for the 2007 / 2008 NBS ??

Maybe the encloure can be modified for a 8in sub.... or aleast a better quality 6in SUB ????????????

This would work great for me... just want a little bit more bass. The JL stealthbox front consol enclosure is sweet.. it just costs around $1,200 with the install and amp.... plus they have to tear the entire front part of the truck apart... which I don't like.... and I don't think they installed too many of them yet, which is real scary.

Adding a sub in in the back, under the seat isn't an option. My dog rides back there and I wouln't want him stomping all over the box and amp... I want it all hidden.

Any Advice form the experts?????????????????????????????????
