1999 Chev 2500

I have a chance to buy a very clean 1999 Chevy 2500 Ex Cab: 81k miles, E Rated Rubber, tow package w/oil cooler, 6.0, large air box, locking diff, + air rear suspension, 3.73 rear end.

My goal is to get toy hauler RV, something no more that 10k lb loaded, more likely 8k.

I noticed that the 4.10 pulls 10.5k vs 8.5k for 3.73.

Widow owns the truck, said the hubby pulled a 5th wheel 30+ ft w/ 2 slide outs. At first he was skeptical of the 3.73 but found it pulled good and got better mileage. Says its the best tow vehicle for 25 years or RV-ing.

Question, is changing the rear gear a bank breaker? What would be a good estimate, cost & labor? Is that change good for the extra 2k lb of tow?

Thanks for your help. Any other advise appreciated.
