Factory Cd Player Quit

Recommended Posts

Good day all, the other day the factory CD player in my 05 Yukon just quit working and at the same time the time changed on the clock. The radio part still works fine and I reset the clock and it is fine now but I can't even eject the CD out of the player. Any ideas or is this thing just had it?

After a long search on the internet I found a post about delco radios and it suggested removing the fuse for the radio from the fuse box under the hood and replace it a few minutes later. I tried it this afternoon and it worked, the CD player is back to normal.

That sure beats having to replace it. Thanks for the follow up.

My '04 silverado just did this a couple days ago but I just noticed this morning that it wasn't recognizing there was a cd in it and wouldn't switch modes to the cd. So I just tried pulling the fuse under the hood and it worked. Thanks for posting that.

Awesome, my 2005 Sierra did the same thing today while driving home. Clock reset itself and it won't recognize the cd player or eject the CD. Gonna cross my fingers and try the fuse thing tomorrow when its light out.

My 2006 Silverado did it the other day. Just driving along playing a cd, and "INITIALIZING" came across the radio and it only recognized the cd that I was playing. I searched and found this fix. Worked like a charm.

:sigh:

I have a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD and mine does what green monster's truck does..... I am still under factory warranty, so I took it in and the dealer sent it out. So you guys figure that pulling the fuse might fix it permanantly?

Permanantly is a big word when it comes to fixing something on vehicle, but it would probably get it done for now. It just resets the radio as if it doesn't have a memory. Except the weird thing was that it remembered all my XM presets, but the time reset as you would expect. Good Luck!
