Hey whats up...i got a couple questions to ask. I got a 06 silverado with the 4.8 and i want to run some bigger tires on it, i got 265/75/17 now. Iam going to get a leveling kit soon for it but dont know what to get for that or what brand. I would like to run some 285's or bigger. My friend has some 305's nitto's he is wanting to sell could i fit those under with a leveling kit. And the main problem i have...gears...i have 3.42...sad but good on gas.

That 6 will not move those big meats with those gears.

I think he thought you had a 4.3.

 

With 285s abd 3.73 gears you should have roughly the same final drive the truck came with. You'll likely notice a llittle decrease in performance with the 3.42s. Just my opinion. I'm sure others can give a better educated response.

Go here and see what your ratio is going to be. It definitely won't be good. A friend of mine has an OBS 99 CC 2500 6.0 with 3.73s and 285s and complains about how the truck pulls after getting 285s. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
