Ive been thinkin about getting a fox racing decal for my tailgait but was wondering if there will be any long term effects from the decal being on the paint. Thanks

Yes it will affect the paint, over a period of time all paint fads some from the sun and over time if you remove the decal you will still see where the decal was cause the spot where the decal was wont be faded, dark colors are worse. My neighbor has a black conversion van and put a nascar decal on both sides about as big as a football I told him dont do it cause whats going to happen well about 1 year later he removed it and you could still see where the decal was, he wound up getting the van repainted cause it looked so bad.

hell if your keeping your truck for 20 more yrs just buy a couple of them then you can slap a new one on when it wears out...plus you have a very forgiving color...put it on and dont worry about it

I sortof tend to agree.

Even though I am not a big decal guy myself unless it's on glass, the vertical surface of the tailgate would take a long time to fade given the angle that the sun normally hits it. A good quality decal can be removed in a year or more pretty easily without damaging the paint.

It's all about what you like.

Have been working with this decal material for 15 years on commercial buses. Most of the time it can be removed easily, sometimes it becomes brittle (with age, sunlight, soap, etc...) and is a stinker to remove. What will be visible after removal is the old location. The area under the decal will be protected from everyday surface scratching/washing and will have a different sheen. May need a little rubbing compound to even this out.
