Removing "gmc" From Tailgate?

does anyone know if the GMC and Sierra emblems on the tailgate and doors of the NBS trucks are stuck on or do they have a nut holding them on?

 

if they are stuck on is heating them up and using fishing line still the preferred method of removing them?

The emblems on my '07 Silverado crew cab were attached with double sided tape. I don't think GM uses many emblems with holes/pins/clips anymore.

I used a adjustable range heat gun (hair dryer will work) and dental floss, but thin fishing line will work. I can reuse the dental floss...cinnamon!

No holes underneath. Took mine off the first day. Smooth look is awesome.

 

Heat it with a hair dryer and lift a corner. Once you get it started it will come off (probably in several pieces). A little rubbing and peeling of the double sided tape is required but it comes off. Adhesive remover may be needed for some glue residue. Wax the gate when you are done and nobody will ever know they were there.

3M Adhesive Remover is a valuable tool for this!!! Trust me. There was about 30lbs of adhesive behind the bowtie on my 'gate. Good luck.

What year is your truck? If it's a NBS 99-2006 they are held on with 2 way tape. I believe the same is true for the GMT900 2007+ trucks as well

'05 - taped, no holes. I left the Sierra badge on though.

i had a 2000 dodge dakota with the v6 emblems that were bolted onto the front fenders, i took all the other badges off but those d**n v6 emblems, one time one of them came loose and fell off and boy did it look stupid with 2 small holes on my fender, i just covered it with black tape until i got a new emblem.
